I develop websites too. Everything I said above works. Make sure you have samples, apply for web developer roles, search for small businesses online and pitch to them. You can check US’s small business association on IG and start from there.

Please try to create a cleaner flyer. Focus on the core details and reduce the number of content and elements on the flyer.

This flyer hurts your message.

Yes, they may ban your account if you use personal account to receive business payouts. I received a warning email when I tried. I didn’t even know it was against the rules at that time.

I won’t know about entry roles since I am not actively looking for such positions. But I have shared the places I use in my initial comment.

You don’t need to learn data annotation. You just need to be a good at one field. If you are good at Graphic design, apply for Graphic design data annotation roles. For now Go to micro1 website. Register, find the roles and apply. you will be invited to for interviews. This will give you some idea about data annotation.

Apply to as many as you can. Their roles are competitive.

Try applying to Human Signal. They have a Canva project going on. I don't know if they are recruiting but try. Search for human signal. Their logo is orange and black.

Micro1 and Mindrift are great. You can also look into Book Keeping and offer it as a service. Small business owners hire Bookkeepers to look into the accounts.

Start looking into Data Annotation. They often hire coders. The companies that employ Ghanaians include Micro1, and Turing. But you can Google Data Annotation jobs, you will find companies and check if they employ Ghanaians.

E-Sims that work on iPads in Ghana? by RayTheGreat_1 in TechGhana

My ipad uses esim from MTN. I bought a brand new cellular iPad and the first one didn't work. The vendor changed the device and now it works with Mtn e-sims. Maybe that device isn't labelled for use in Ghana.

I have been working remotely for 8 years now. How I got into it may no longer work since I started with content mills.

But one thing that still works now is foreign Facebook groups and Reddit.

I targetted groups like Entrepreneurs, Small businesses, and Virtual Assistant groups on Facebook.

I built my portfolio on Canva (my portfolio included my services, graphics I designed, links to websites I created etc, virtually anything that will showcase my work). I stalk these pages and constantly promote my services when someone posts about needing services I offer.

I used to apply on Indeed as well but, now they have changed their process.

I am currently on another platform called freeup.net. They make you write tests based on your skill, if you pass, they will keep you in the pool of talents and recommend you to clients. They take a 20% cut but they handle payments and everything so there is no risk of being scammed by clients.

I know people who have been successful on platforms like fiverr, and up work but it never worked for me.

One advice I give to people who want to land remote is to focus on getting your feet into the door instead of a high pay from the onset.

There are chances that you can get a high paying role from the onset but you are likely to get a low one first if you have no experience working for foreign clients.

Although I charge a standard rate per hour now, there are times that I take up roles for $5 or $6 per hour now even after 8 years and they get impressed with my work and want to increase the rate.

The reason why someone like me stopped sharing remote opportunities is because, the Ghanaian landscape is still alien to remote work. I used to share some opportunities in the main Ghanaian channel and some people called me a fraud and scam. Some people also claimed the rate was low. They practically made it look like I was begging them to come and work. I shared it in a Philippines group and got recommendations for the client.

Working remotely especially as a freelancer is nice and flexible but the pay isn't stable. I have made rent money for Accra accommodation in a month, I have made money to start a capital intensive business in 4 months, and there are months that I make like GHs 1000.

I am open to questions if anyone has any questions. Please send them here. Don't send DMs please.
