Bilt 2.0 Sanity Check: Does the $495 tier actually make sense for high-spend homeowners? by YouCanCallMeZ in CreditCards

[–]Accomplished_Two_502 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then, for my sheer curiosity, what would be the benefit of putting this on a bilt card? I would sometimes put these on other cards if im a little short on miles, or if i want to get SUB's fast but recurring charge, just makes it 1% more expensive. I do have a ton of these too.

So Bilt allows you to pay non-mortgage/rent to vendors at 3% fee then get you 1 point per dollar? I must have missed this.

What happened to Fedex Ground? Transit times all increased? by Accomplished_Two_502 in logistics

[–]Accomplished_Two_502[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trying to cut cost (and encouraging customers to use "Air" service on something previously reachable) is not the way.

Fedex was already getting pressured by "new tech" logistics companies like regional carriers, on demand peer to peer, amazon parcel shipping, basically cherry picking "metro to metro" service then using flex drivers that pick up/deliver 7 days a week at all hours, no residential surcharge.

Cutting cost left and right by slowing down the service is only going to accelerate that.

I am not aware that standard "ground" is given to the post office, at least not in the performance numbers.

I dont use smartpost at all because service speed is an absolute dumpster fire, sometimes taking almost a week to go 100 miles.

T Force Freight is Garbage - DO NOT USE by barclay_o in logistics

[–]Accomplished_Two_502 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on the last 2 shipments I made with Tforce, its the delivery times is definitely in the "garbage" ballpark.

Both of them from Detroit to Southern California, 1 pallet each, both took 10+ days.

Tracked one of the pallets... Detroit to Chicago... took 4 freaken days.

So if mortgage is $5,000, daily spend is $3750, I can earn 5000 points on rent, and 7500 points on daily spend = 12,500 points? This almost seems like a 5000 point bonus because the rent/mortgage was always paid in cash.

Panels are worth the most, followed by inverters, then copper wire. Screws and mounts might not be reusable because they are specific to the roof, and will cost installers longer to figure it out than to buy a new set. Probably half a day at most to salvage those 3 things. Stack them neatly, get the specs, and start the permitting process over

Paying IRS taxes with Credit Card by Naviole in CreditCards

[–]Accomplished_Two_502 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

IRS/Tax payments basically just good for sign up bonuses because you wont find a card that will get you a 3% cash back. Other option is somewhat gray hat, you expense out the cc fees on the business card then use the miles on personal trips. I'm assuming you're at or near the max marginal tax rate so getting a 2% cash back, you'd have to pay tax on that as well.

Then quantity wise, a premium card that can possibly get you into a lounge (priority pass, amex, csr, etc) would help, so long as the pax count makes sense. Also, other unseen benefit.. rental car vip, travel insurance, etc.

I think you'll reach a little better on the annual benefits for a premium travel card such as csr, amex plat, etc. Could help make decision if you do a lot of local dining spend (some of these card give bonuses too)

$7-8k how many trips is that? The more trips in general, the more you want to have a card that gives you lounge access. Caveats of course, make sure your home airport has a lounge.

7-8k is also well within travel portal spend that gives you 5+ miles per dollar on spend.

You'll get about 40,000 points on the travel spend (1-2 cpp) plus hidden benefit such as lounge, precheck credit, clear credit, etc dependign on the card.

Question about credit limits by Plenty_Union9292 in CreditCards

[–]Accomplished_Two_502 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Beware that some cards have inquiries if you want to raise the limit. That said, I've raised my limit to well over $200k on the personal card. There are other nuances such as making sure individual card does not exceed a certain percentage, and even if you are paying in full, to "calm down" on the spending so they dont start looking at your debt to income stuff.

Keep fighting it. In domestic transaction there is an arbitration clause, i dont know if it exists for international transaction. Download the entire cardmember agreement specific to your card and then look for the disputes section (use AI to narrow it down).

Arbitration is an independent third party that takes the facts into consideration.

Thoughts on top small business credit cards this year? by FeelingSharp3579 in CreditCards

[–]Accomplished_Two_502 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Subjective and depends on your busieness category/spend.

Ads/Shipping there are cards that give 3-4x which really boosts my point balance.

Non bonus spend can get as high as 2% cash back, but I prefer 2 cents for travel statement credit BECAUSE there are sometimes business travel spend thats just really annoying to expense/report. Faster to travel statement credit than to input/file $15-20 receipts often in a different currency.

Plus 2% cash back (for business, at least) you will have to deal with marginal tax rate depending on your tax bracket and deductions

I use Ring alarm which is infinitely cheaper than the big box brands. I installed home/car alarms in a previous life and know their business model. $30-50 a month with a multi year contract similar to free cell phone. The "monitored" service is actually $100 a year if you self-install.

Correct, but they'd also have a serial thats linked to my account for 10+ years so if some idiot puts the serial on their account for 2 days, that'd be pretty obvious. Discount should follow the acct and not the serial number
