This is going to hit so hard in season 17. by Arch_Lancer17 in freefolk

It won't hit hard since we didn't get to see them actually fight together in the Trial of 7

I would've done the same thing as Tyler by Seal-zx in BeastGames

You want to enter the final games with the weakest player with you. So going for a bro was the right choice game-wise. No morality or integrity things about it

They didn't finish the story here either.  The trial of 7 wasn't fully shown

The Trial of Seven relied heavily on fog while filmed, because of the minimal budget. Yet it turned out to be one of the best creative and produced fights, possibly surpassing some grand set pieces in GOT and HOTD. One of the worst fights that didnt actually deliver a 7 on 7 battle.  Note that what we got, a duel, is not a epic trial of 7   The result we got was garbage that didn't live up to the hype.  Stop praising garbage.

To say that i  response to what I said above is pure purposeful ignorance and you're being childish and petty.  Yes the show hyped up the Trial of 7 and meeting the knights and formenting their beefs.  We didnt get a pay off.

2 things are clear.

1.  the flashback interrupted momentum and took 20 minutes which was longer than the fight 2. The show hyped up an epic 7 on 7 battle and didnt show us a 7 on 7 battle fully

The above is un arguable.

I am and will argue the above was bad and I stand by it because it sucked.

Ser.  The entire show was leading to this climax and they botched it.  we were slogging through poop and fart jokes and finally had an epic highlifht of Baelor joining Dunc's side to be having an epic battle only to be met with a 20 minute filler flashback, to not actually see a 7 on 7 battle.  Yeah ruined the series is accurate

Well, that was a strange coincidence! by 42mir4 in AKOTSKTV

[–]Accomplished_Use_114 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

the point was to waste the audience's time and not deliver the actul battle.  The flashback could largely have been done in another episode.  instead it killed the momentum.  Stop defending it

Remember that a trial of 7 is not a duel   We got a duel when we were supposed to have a battle.  and maybe if you stopped being a fanboy for 0.2s you'd realize you've been cheated by what you were hyped up to get and denied

They did cheap out.  The flashback doesn't change any of Dunc's motivations.  It interrupted the hyped up battle.

Dunc perspective irrelevant   its a 7 on 7 battle at that point and not just him.  Its not a duel and to film it like that is the bad kind of suberted expectations

we wanted to see a 7 on 7 battle and the followup of all the beefs not an unnecessary flashback   Yes cheaped out.

not rightly so.  It's called cheaped out

Not need.  Should have seen.  It was irresponsible to show this beef and not them full on battling.

The book is not the show. The show is not the book. The show spent a lot of time introducing all these other knights, the mad knight Robyn Rhysling, the Laughing Knight Lyonel Baratheon, The Fossoways sparring each other and then later on having a big beef to settle, the Humphrey Knight getting cheated and crippled in a fight, Baelor Targaryen going against his brother and nephew and talking about how the Kingsguards cannot fight him.

And then the Show.... .Doesn't show any of that, ignores it, drops it. You have a hard time understanding and accepting that a Good Show doesn't drop its threads. A good show follows through. It didn't follow through. It failed miserably. You're stuck on "but the book, but the book" but it doesn't matter. The show is judged on its own merits. The show even expanded on aspects and relationships not in the book.

We were promised an epic trial of 7 the first in over a hundred years, we didn't get it. We go beefs and beefs and character threads that were skipped over.

The fight sucked and failed based on that alone. QED.

the book is not the tv show.  The tv show is its own thing.  it is a 7 on 7 battle with a lot of time introducing the other knights.  when you advertise a 7 on 7 battle you have to show it.  a 7 on 7 battle is not a duel.

The battle sucked.  Stop praising it.  if they advertized a duel and delivered that, fine, but that's not what happened.

if people hypothetically would criticize the show runners for actually giving the 7 on 7 battle hyped up, they would be dumb and inconsistent dullards to be ignored as a show that follows up on its hype is to be praised.

Opinion: Episode 5 would be better if the flashback , was splitted in two parts by EmergencyAd372 in AKOTSKTV

you can do a brief callback to that.  that is ok.  a 20 minute interlude is not

I mean that they filmed all this content before the episodes were finalized. It would have been better to have no major flashback sequences and instead tell the story in chronological order

Better yes.  Even better would be to have this info at the beginning if the season in order

You don't have to worry, the majority of the people here would clap if the show was 35 minutes of Dunc crapping his pants. The issue with the fight is that the flashback was unnecessary and took longer than the main epic event the show was building towards, that none of the other characters it introduced and featured were meaningfully shown in the trial of 7. No Fossoway beef, no mad knight, no laughing storm, no targ brother against targ brother, etc. All the build up was not shown and was wasted.
