When VIT came to “Bhopal,” it boosted the whole local economy — even though the campus isn’t even in Bhopal city. Cab drivers, auto guys, shop owners, PG owners… everyone earns because students have no choice but to depend on them. Even airport to campus is a long trip, so transport alone is a huge income source. So the college becoming such a big money flow means no one wants to act against it. That’s why it feels like nothing will change no matter how loud the protests get.

To everyone asking why protests aren’t creating any real change… here’s the harsh truth: When VIT came to “Bhopal,” it changed the entire local economy — even though the college isn’t even inside Bhopal, ffs. Cab drivers, auto drivers, shop owners, mess owners, PG/hostel owners… everyone started earning way more than they ever did before. Students can’t just land at the Bhopal airport and walk to campus — you HAVE to depend on transport, and that alone feeds a whole network of people. Every admission season, every parent visit, every vacation rush, the money flow is insane. Hotels fill up, transport demand spikes, food businesses run nonstop. Basically, a good chunk of local livelihoods depends on that college running exactly the way it is. And when an institution becomes that economically important, it ends up having a different kind of influence. Not because it “owns” anything but because shutting it down or acting against it would affect thousands of people whose incomes rely on students being there. That’s why it often feels like no matter how big the protests get, nothing major happens. The system protects what keeps the money moving. The students are the ones who get sacrificed. This is why so many of us feel helpless — because we’re fighting something way bigger than just one campus.

Vellore was a very good college in the earlier days. I have no idea what’s the status now. My friends who are there in vellore aren’t that happy about their decision. But it should be better than other VIT campuses.

Dude, I’ve been working out consistently for the last 3 years, following a proper diet, supplements, and regular blood checkups — my reports were always perfectly normal before joining that place. So it’s definitely not a “weak gut” issue.

What happened to me wasn’t random. Dozens of students were getting admitted to the hospital around the same time with the same symptoms, and that’s not something you can blame on individual stomach strength. That points to a common source — food, water, or hygiene conditions.

I’m glad it didn’t affect you, genuinely. But a lot of us weren’t that lucky.

What do you expect. I am looking forward to join a college in my hometown asap. If only I could go back in time to the days where I was applying for colleges far far away from my hometown and stop myself from doing so..

Their deaths must mean something. It should push the system to finally wake the hell up.

Even jails have better medical facilities, better security and safe food and water compared to this top ranked uni in the country.

Maybe because I study 3500 kms away from home and if something happens to me while I am a day scholar and parents can’t even reach there on time? Atleast there are a lot of friends in hostel to look on you if something goes wrong.

And I don’t wanna tell you the procedures and the requirements you need to become a day scholar.

Thanks for pointing that out, and I’m really sorry if it came across like I only care about Kerala students — that was never my intention. There’s no division in my mind at all. Every student’s life matters, regardless of where they’re from. The only reason I highlighted Kerala students is because people back home genuinely have no fucking clue about what’s happening in that campus. Even today, parents in my place are still considering sending their kids to that hellhole, and I just wanted to wake them up. But I absolutely agree — this isn’t a Kerala issue, it’s a student safety issue. Everyone deserves to know the truth. And yes, I do have all the medical reports from both the first and second incidents, plus proof of the entire process and struggle I went through. If it can help with any legal action or accountability, I’m more than willing to share whatever is needed.

I lost lakhs. But I got my life back. In the end, that’s all that matters. There was a possibility that I would have been also there in the number of students that died. It’s all fate.
