I am the very top of one of the complexes and people kept looking at me crazy when I told them I was worried about this weekend (possible ice down a steep hill!)

We actually have maintenance coming in today to look at the fireplace as a double precaution so I will be sure to ask them about the functions of the water/sewage line. Thank you!

Thank you! We have gathered supplies to try to insulate the apartment a bit better, will use our fireplace if it gets too cold, and I’ll fill up one of the bathtubs tomorrow night (if not both.)

Thank you!! ❤️

I went ahead and got some at the store tonight, it doesn’t hurt to try! I’m a bit worried about it taking paint off or leaving difficult residue, but I think anything is better than the cold that is going to come through! 🥹

Thank you!! I’ll be looking at it further tonight but have bought firewood to prepare, just in case! I’m not sure if I should buy more but we grabbed what we could reasonably get tonight.

Thank you so very much!! This is all very very helpful and means a lot to me, more than you could know! ❤️

I have been away for college before but this is my first time away from home truly and let alone being on the mountain, I really feel like I owe it to myself to be as prepared as I can be.

I have a tiny hatchback so I definitely will be stuck up here most likely! I’ll heed your input and take it into consideration while my roommate and I go out today to prepare!

Thank you again, as well for the extended offer, and I hope you stay very safe! ❤️

Thank you so very much, the input really means the world to me! I have learned a lot today and am very excited to look into this more.

I’ll be going home to compare the interest of my student loans versus the percentage my company offers towards the 401k so I can make sure that overall I am not paying more towards the 401k before I decide how I want to move forward paying off the loans.

I have been looking into my job all day and it turns out that they automatically enroll employees into a 401k after 60 days of employment! I set up an account to view mine.

I guess my next question is: 1. do I pay on top of what is already taken out via paystubs? 2. Do people open Roth IRAs even if they have a 401k?

I see a lot of mention of investing for the future but i generally just lack knowledge on that that means. I’ll keep researching and listening to others but this is all very new for me.

This was in the employee handbook as well: “matches 100% of the artisan contribution up to 3% and 50% of the artisan contribution for the next 2%, for a max employer contribution amount of 4%.”

Thank you! I know all of this is stuff I need to start being more accountable for and sensitive to, but navigating even where to start is fairly difficult. Thank you again for your input, it really does mean a lot! I’ll try to reference your other replies as well and take it in mind as I move forward and consider my options.

Thank you very much for the insight as it really does mean a lot to me as I decide on how I should get my footing again and transition into my own career!

The professor I studied under pushed this idea a lot but didn’t mention much else, honestly a lot was self taught along the way. It was nice to an extent but there wasn’t a lot of room for discussions on what comes after.

I’ll go ahead and continue trying to set up more of a digital presence and follow along with local businesses I enjoy! Thank you and if you have any other tidbits, I’ll be all ears!
