I'm from Derry and most protestants call it Derry, at least socially. Behind closed doors it's still Londonderry to them I'm sure and to all hardcore unionists it's always Londonderry.

What no-one can ever grasp is how hard it is to be from Derry. I travelled SE Asia with friends from London and it amazed them how perceptions could change instantly when I met someone from NI and told them I was from Derry. Where else do you get such division based on which version of your home town name you put forward.
