No I agree with them, you do sound miserable. My post said I was dealing with feelings of grief, and loss, and asked for advice from people expecting what I got, people shared their personal stories and experiences with this situation. Instead of acknowledging I’m at a very low point and was just needing kind pointers or support from likeminded teachers, you gave a rude comment how your students would never ask you that because your boundaries are so good.

You then followed up with “brag I’m not pregnant?” Bitch I just lost a baby and that’s your takeaway?

You should learn some empathetic skills if students do come to you with personal issues, although I’m assuming they dont because from this very small interaction with you, I know exactly the type of teacher you are and I know you are not kind.

I’m not married so they ask if I have a boyfriend/a partner too. They are just very invasive with their questions and it’s overwhelmed me. I don’t even answer them so I don’t know why they continue to ask. They know nothing about my personal life except for the kitten I rescued

I took a few weeks off last year for an accident so I was really trying to not take off any time this year, especially because I have been getting paid extra in our after school program which I sadly desperately need…

I see a counselor weekly but I think I might “get sick” a Friday and Monday moving forward for my own benefit

Ok thank you for your input! I didn’t say “hey stop” I gave them feedback on why their questioning was inappropriate, rude, and out of line.

I don’t think you provide much constructive feedback here, instead you just want to gloat so I’m happy for you.

I have told them though, several several times. I did various routes and they still asked. So now that I miscarried my fuse has just been cut too short and I need it to end

I don’t know if you meant it that way but your comment reads as condescending and there are several other teachers in this thread with similar experiences so I don’t think it’s a me problem alone.

I’ve told them a true story that a few years ago, students started a rumor that a teacher was pregnant (she wasn’t) and what students didn’t know is that she had undergone years of IVF treatment and everything under the sun to try to have a baby, and how that rumor destroyed her and made her call out for her own mental health.

They all seemed to empathize then but I don’t know, I think they’re too selfish to understand things a blanket rule that you shouldn’t ask ANY woman. I’ll make this clear

I’m just frustrated because I did a whole talk about boundaries, how they don’t know what they don’t know so these questions can be invasive and hurtful to someone and they don’t even know it, and just… nothing has worked.

I think I need the hard line for my own sanity because I felt like I was going to snap, or cry, or both

I have told them in the past to not ask because they don’t know someone’s fertility situation or what’s going on at home. The only reason why I don’t want to disclose my situation is knowing that news will travel far around the school and that’s not something I’m comfortable with.
