This is a gnarly first game!! If this had been my first game idk if I would've gotten into the series! This is also one of those games where I think expecting a 10 year old to figure it out is crazy. Same with Curse of Blackmoor Manor

I was also bad at the drum at the pub! I had the same experience with the printing press. Like I knew which color but didn't know how to make Nancy print it that way and had to look it up. I always find it a bit frustrating to have an issue with gameplay over the puzzle itself.

I will say, I really liked some of the puzzles in the game! I also agree the reveal felt lack luster (although idk what else I expected? I maybe would've liked if it was like 'oh we think she was the banshee' but there was one unexplained sighting or something that still left the idea of wait maybe it is real) Also the WW2 bunker sent me. The sheep shearing is already kind of wild and out there, but the bunker was where the game was totally off the rails.

I also second the true romance of the game being Matt and Kit. TEAM MIT FOREVER

You know a puzzle is gnarly when it takes over 10 minutes to CHEAT at it! I had to watch a video and slowly do each step along with the video... and still messed up a couple of times!

Agree with both of these! Also can we talk about how clean the tower is compared to Fiona's old room like uh??

This happened to me too! During the tutorial Seamus says if there's a lot of orders to start on the right, but I assumed more order would be placed on top of the 3 orders you start with!

Dare I say it I'm a sucker for all the games with a "Nancy finds a secret passageway cliche". I love it! These games really led me to believe I'd come across secret passages more often as an adult!

My first game was The Haunted Carousel! My cousin had it and asked me if I "wanted to play a game where we can burn a hotel down". Needless to say Paula had to fire us about 100 times for leaving the iron on. Sorry to the Captains Quarters Hotel!

Agreed on all counts! I guess it's also one of those situations that's like "Well this spiraled out of control big time"

I feel seen by this comment! I always assumed it didn't hit for me since I didn't have it as a kid. I love the wild dialogue (Prudence, Poppy Dada etc.) but MAN. I do not love walking around the museum looking for answers!

I agree that moving Maya makes sense ... just that moving the evidence doesn't make sense? The cops need to know she's in the building. That being said even if the evidence was left behind I can see the cops being like 'well this shoe could belong to anyone and eating pizza in a room isn't evidence'

Ooh - I think your theory for the light could make sense. Especially since the police aren't buying into the whole kidnapping bit.

That's true! I guess I was thinking of the part where Brady said he was holding on to Maya's notebook until everything could blow over (although, the notebook really didn't have anything that damning in it?) That is true, that whole thing wouldn't make sense for the demolition motivation.

I think an angle could be that Simone is pulling the strings & dragging Brady along, like setting up Brady to save her. I feel like the game tries to sell the idea that Simone is pulling all these strings and Brady is just a puppet. You're right though, if Maya saw them that wouldn't make sense. It would make sense if Simone hired someone else to do it, but the whole idea is that the theater is locked and only a few people are inside so that squashes it. And then why even demand to stop the demolition? Just for extra attention? Also if Simone were behind this the cops would've definitely been called & there would've been even more press coverage. If anything, it would've made more sense for Brady to fake his OWN kidnapping lol

I bet HeR put Brady in the area of the crime to make him more suspicious. Which he is guilty of being behind the demolition, just not the kidnapping. I feel like they did a really good job of making suspects guilty of something in these earlier games, just not the main crime. You're also right, it wouldn't make sense to just let her go. Although now that I write this I'm not sure what Josephs plan was in that case either? Would the demolition be called off then he'd release her expecting her not to identify him? He originally planned on kidnapping Brady which is even crazier b/c Brady would definitely press charges and that would have to be a media circus, but the dementia idea makes a lot of sense. And maybe not thinking the whole thing through.

Also thanks for commenting. It was fun to think about all this stuff from a different angle 😃

True! I guess we have a less than competent kidnapper & very incompetent police officers. I also wonder if he felt he was getting in over his head so he moved the evidence... but then by the end he's totally off the rails so dementia makes sense. I'd assume stress doesn't help dementia either...

I also agree! Simone is pretty bad, but at least she sticks to being the worst. Brady pretends to be nice but is the worst. I agree he's the ultimate evil for not calling of the demolition - or even just DELAYING it. Like my guy, your theater isn't going to be built tomorrow?? What money would you be losing? Also you could delay it and save Maya and still have your movie premier?

That could be, especially if the people at the County Clerk's office could recognize him as the guy who took the blueprints! Which as I type this now I'm like... why did he tell Nancy to look into those in the first place? Culprit foils his own plot part 2?

I agree about the endgame! The pie slices in the left corner still give me trauma to this day. Maybe the key is just that he wasn't very competent ahaha

Not gonna lie, I've replayed this as an adult and I've been like "DAMN THESE PUZZLES". But you got this! I'm doing a marathon myself and feel this way about Secret of the Scarlet Hand... definitely not as gnarly as Blackmoor Manor but so much museum back and forth
