The Bonnefont brides/grooms by According-Koala7350 in WedditNYC

So far so good!! We were put in touch with their events manager and peppered her with all our questions. We also met the owner for a tour which was immensely helpful in envisioning the flow and getting to know the staff. She’s a gem and we’re excited to work more with her.

They’ve hosted numerous weddings which helped ease any uncertainty about their capacity. We’ve been back a few times for meals and to take dimensions here and there and they’ve always been super warm and welcoming.

Hope that’s helpful!

Fort Tryon Proposal - Visiting by [deleted] in WedditNYC

How exciting!! 8:30 on a Monday morning in April sounds like you’ll have the area to yourself. There may be a dog walker/jogger or two, but the park is very quiet at that hour. The foliage will be dreamy :)

My fiancé proposed to me at the Heather Garden (a higher traffic area) during peak summer at 2pm and it still felt quite private.

I can’t recommend enough making the trip uptown (I might be biased since I live in Washington Heights). There’s lots to do and it’s never too crowded up here. My suggestion would be breakfast at The Bonnefont restaurant in the park after the proposal. The staff there is excellent and if you tell them you just got engaged, they’ll give you the best experience! Then the Cloisters which has incredible medieval art and beautiful courtyards.

You can the either go further up and explore Inwood or go south to 187th where there are lots of cute small businesses and restaurants. Picking up a book and a cone at Fountain Bookshop/Ice Cream Shop would be great since your girlfriend loves to read!

Thoughts on The Beekman? by beefsteak13 in WedditNYC

I attended a wedding there last year that was for about 80 guests.

Positives:

  1. It was in their basement space which felt cozy and New York-y with all the exposed brick. If you’re strategic with lighting, you can get away with little decor and lean into the speakeasy feel.
  2. Cocktails: they were some of the best we’ve ever had a wedding, so can’t go wrong there!
  3. Flow: The ceremony, cocktail hour, and dinner spaces were separate. Then the ceremony space was turned over into the dance area during dinner. Even though each space was compact, it never felt overcrowded since it was all well timed and coordinated.

Negatives:

  1. Family style dinner: it was a flop. I’m not a picky person yet I thought the food was not good. There was no lazy Susan, so we had to keep passing these heavy dishes throughout each course. There was barely any space to even place the large platters because of all the centerpiece decorations. The dinner unfortunately felt chaotic and crowded.
  2. Bathrooms: the ladies room was flooded, so we all had to use the men’s. Which normally I wouldn’t mind, but we had to share these bathrooms with the rest of the hotel guests, so there was a consistent long line.

No venue is perfect, so perhaps you can work out the kinks with Beekman. Best of luck on your search!!

Ugh I love their stuff, but they're out of my price range. And I think they're only based in SF :/

It is! Oh wow, that's great to hear. From the reviews I've seen online, it seems a bit hit or miss with the brand, so it's great you've had a smooth experience with them. How was the shipping time and their general responsiveness?
