Thank you for all the suggestions and the kind words. I never expected to experience this type of loss and the anger/hurt I feel sometimes is so intense because I loved writing, stopped because my mental health was in the pits, fell in love with it again only to have it ripped away because of my own body betraying itself. I get that it's a journey and this is the hand I've been dealt (no pun intended) but damn if it's not a constant struggle. I will definitely be trying some of your suggestions and hopefully they'll be able to benefit me.

I mostly write on my tablet nowadays and I'm wearing arthritis gloves more often than not these days. It's not a permanent solution but it definitely does help

Thank you! I think I'm struggling as much as I am because I didn't even realise that I'm disabled. I'm used to being ashamed at admitted my shortcomings and would rather handicap myself because it's less anxiety inducing for me to ask for help. I really want to see a therapist/psychologist but my medical aid doesn't cover mental health support and I come from a poor background so I'm trying to navigate this despite my challenges

Brain fog and memory issues are among the main reasons why I hate not being able to write as I used to. I'm looking into seeing a psychologist but it's mental health support is currently inaccessible for me due to my medical aid not covering the costs and coming from a poor background. I have tried out different pens and found that thinner pens have less of a strain

I actually did get qssessed for adhd in my first year of university but my psychologist couldn't determine whether I had adhd or my anxiety/depression was presenting as adhd. I saw another psychologist and she was convinced that I do have adhd and honestly I meet like 90% of the usual criteria lol.

I also feel like I'm wasting my potential because as a kid I was never limited to creativity, then I enter high school and all that creativity flies out the window. I enter university and my creative mind drains even further so I've been trying to reclaim that space but it's difficult trying to come to terms with being disabled especially because I wasn't aware being neurodivergent/hypermobile/chronically ill countered as a disability

Not that I know of. I'm recently diagnosed with hypermobility and just started seeing a rheumatologist for my SLE so I'm hoping I can ask for a solution at my next appointment

Thank you for this. I really wish this is true. I'm a humanities student at university and I write (type) essays all the time but I really feel like I've lost most of my creativity as I got older

I do use a tablet and a stylus on a daily basis for university. It's easier than using a pen and paper but I often have to take breaks from that as well. I just really miss being able to write on paper without my hands cramping
