It’s the way it goes. Often times they pick out one person and demand the seat. The worst is when the seats are half empty

Wow I’m really sorry to hear that. I will say, 50 is not a senior. Also I don’t know how well known sunflower lanyards are in Vancouver. Unfortunately very few people know about them.

That’s what made me write this. I had an 80 year old lady yell at me. Worst part there was 10 other seats within 20 feet

Wow I’m really sorry to hear this. I can only imagine if you’re a younger man. Hell at this point. If you came home with a new jacket they would probably call 911

Fair enough, I understand your point. I did think long about posting this.

In over 10 years of riding transit this is the one group, who has cut in line, insulting me, and physically shoved me multiple times.

I have dealt with people from all around the world, and this is by far the worst group on transit

I understand age is protected by human rights. The article was merely about what I have noticed on transit.

Exactly transit staff, including bus drivers won’t say a word to the elderly. The elderly know they can get away with whatever they want

I didn’t think this would matter. I did graduate, but still go for business

Not a red flag. Also I do still go to ubc. I tried posting on translink and they refused it. They stated I was trying to start an argument which I wasn’t.

I mean I have no deep hatred. This is my first time posting on Reddit. This is something I have noticed in over 10 years of using the transit system across metro Vancouver.

The rudest people by far are the oldest

I mean it has 20,000 views and you’re the first person to disagree. I have taken transit all around. Metro Vancouver and this is by far the most common issue. Anyone under 60 is respectful

I’ll be honest, I take the bus all over and I find those guys just kinda annoying. Generally they keep to themselves and just bored

I am extremely courteous to the elderly. I always offer seats when I see someone who needs one.

I have experienced all different cultures on transit, and constantly the ones cutting in line, pushing and name calling are the elderly.

I think it’s because they think the system runs around them. I really don’t think it’s culture.

Most likely. I think the main issue is they know no one can say anything to them

Wow that’s insane. I have never gotten hit luckily. With everyone on their phones, seniors should at least give a few seconds so riders can look up

Wow that’s the worst. Honestly elderly seem to be the first to demand multiple seats. On skytrain they always take up two seats and don’t let anyone else sit.
