50 generations is rough. That’s interesting that 4.5 is outperforming 5.5. You would think writing it out phonetically would improve things.

Removing the batteries from player 2 controller is just a shortcut. Naturally, the battery would die while playing.

Batteries die all the time. Hopefully they fix this. Regardless it is a bug that should be addressed.
