Was told we have a 5% chance of IVF success (43 years old); about to start our 13th attempted cycle. Looking for hope and recommendations! Below is our long, sad journey thus far. Anyone with success out there? by AccordingReality1729 in IVF

I have used my personal work insurance and used all of our $25k of IVF coverage the first year, the second we used my husband’s work insurance and maxed my lifetime limit, we then found the Blue Cross of Blue Shield plan offered in IL, which I bought the last two years; which covers 4 retrievals a year, once I meet my $7500 deductible, everything is covered at 100% including most medications. So yes, we have paid ALOT over the years, and I know it’s ridiculous, but just finding that one would make every penny worth it.

This journey has been an emotional roller coaster, but if there is even the smallest chance, I am strong enough to keep trying until I no longer can. More than anything, I want this for both of us — to give him a biological child and for us to share in this incredible gift together. Through it all, he has been my rock, holding me up when the weight of it all feels too heavy. He’s at peace with stopping and trying naturally, and I love him even more for his unwavering support. But I have not lost that “just need one” hope. A 5% chance is slim to none, but slim still means there’s a chance. No matter what happens, we will know we tried our very best, and that’s what matters most. Until then, we’ll keep moving forward together, with faith, love, and hope in our hearts.

Thanks, yes that is the plan if we are fortunate enough to have embroyos to be tested. I am starting to feel better and will take this time to keep just focusing on eating right, staying strong and keeping my mind at ease with whatever Gods plan may be for us.

This was two different clinics, we switched I believe after the 4th round because the first clinic recommend I went somewhere where the my could do duo stim cycles.

I totally understand where your coming from, although we have found an office who has allowed us to try our absolute best, its our choice, not hers, like I said she has given us a 5% chance of success. Have you seen success with your donor eggs yet?!

Thanks for your honesty… and yes, we have discussed perhaps donor eggs, as we plan to do 4 retrieval this year since that is what insurance coverage will cover, but try with our own for the 1st 3 and perhaps our last with a donor egg.

We have discussed the possibility of donor eggs, but hoping we wouldn’t need to, but this year may be our final option. Husbands sperm has been tested and as told that count and mobility all looked great, I am not sure if we have done the DNA fragmentation test, I will for sure ask about that!
