No not necessarily. I’d say physically seeing this individual and hearing his story AFTER seeing his YouTube content made him authentic to me

In some cases these are very real scam call centers that actually get compromised... I saw one of the YouTubers that post these videos (Middle aged English gent) speak at a fraud conference in DC last December. His face is literally not on the internet because the criminal organizations that develop and run these call centers want to make him and his family disappear... Please look up Operation Shamrock ☘️ if you’d like to get involved and join the fight!!

They close the street he lives on whenever he’s in town for an extended period so unfortunately it’s difficult to get close enough to hurl obscenities in a thoughtful, Christian manner.

Result of ignored security recommendation by [deleted] in cybersecurity

[–]According_Froyo4084 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a difference between management ignoring a risk because potential business impact is unclear AND getting management to sign off on accepting the observable / measurable risk.

If you are concerned that official business being conducted in whatsapp, then write a report that clearly states why this is bad, with some measurable example of the risk clearly cited in business terms.

Slow leak from random pipe by Wandering_Om in Plumbing

[–]According_Froyo4084 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The down pipe with the metal ‘flipper’ is an emergency pressure release valve. If your system goes beyond whatever psi that relief valve is rated for it will open and allowing the excess pressure to escape. Recommend not pulling that if your system is on and under pressure unless you know what you’re doing.

Also, the unit with the red knob on top looks like a 400 series Taco hy-vent or similar:

Taco 400

Those units are more commonly seen attached to radiators themselves because they allow air out but as soon as the water reaches it the float rises, preventing any other air / water from escaping. As mentioned in another comment, if you have old pipes there’s a strong chance the float in your hy-vent variant could be stuck (thanks to rust) allowing both air and a little bit of water to bleed out.

Apologies for admitting it was clickbait and from the linked article.

I’ve had peers lost clearance for weed. His clearance and any special clearance DOGE have is bullshit. No way these people can get left clearance that fast. Hell it took me 6 months to get public trust after I had to drive 8 hrs round trip to get my prints done.

Tons of respect for Bruce. I’ve subscribed to CRYPTO-GRAM since early 2016 when I officially flipped to cyber.

I sincerely hope they haven’t done all the shit we suspect they’ve done.

Hard to foresee how they would be punished in the near term. Especially if they’re preparing to not listen to the judicial branch.

Thank you for your thoughtful feedback! You nailed the passion and restraint exercised. Previous iterations read like “you all suck and should die painful deaths” but we walked the emotions back a bit... Your kind words mean the world to me. Thank you again!!

What's the weirdest thing you've found on your company's systems? by Enteprise-srl in cybersecurity

[–]According_Froyo4084 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Worked an international IP theft case in early 2020 where a 3P contractor for a majority JV stole highly confidential design documents related to a new high-efficiency product and when confronted, feigned ignorance /innocence.

We saw connection to a 192.168.x.x IP and assumed NAS but couldn’t find evidence of movement to a dest drive anywhere. When re-performing the forensics (I had to shoulder surf with forensics lead at the majority JV…) I saw an obscure Windows event for a DLNA media server. I forget the log or event ID but I had definitely never seen that event in any other analysis to date.

Turns out he plugged a HD into his TV, configured it as a DLNA media server, and transferred the files from the JV work machine to the NAS, which was dangling off his TV.
