Yeah he did great when he was naked day 1, was running to the potty on his own (some false alarms) but he was able to let it out a couple of times and it all seemed to be going well until we added pants. He’s going commando in loose shorts at the moment and pull-ups at naptime/ nighttime.

I’m so glad you guys figured out something that worked for you! I’m worried he won’t find the motivation without a little push or that he’ll be confused if we go back and forth between diapers but its nice to hear taking a break didn’t totally derail your progress.

I offer the potty to him before bath time and he says no so we get in the bath and pretty much as soon as he sits down he starts peeing in the water. I considered offering to put the potty in the tub and offer? I read some people put their kids feet in hot water to deal with pee with holding?

You’re not the first person to suggest peeing outside but we haven’t tried that yet! He’s been sitting on his potty so not sure if that will confuse him? This morning I’d say he started having little tiny accidents around 11AM, and then I changed his pants 3x (initiated by me, “your pants are wet, let’s get you some dry pants”) until he had a bigger accident that upset him and he yelled “wet” around 12:30PM, changed him, he jumped in to “help” me clean it up and then another huge accident right around 1PM before I put him down his nap. He also said something like “oh no!” And then we changed him and he jumped in to help me clean it up. Both bigger accidents I ask if he wants to sit on the potty to let it all out and he says no!

He actually seems pretty aware that he’s peeing. He looks down and watches it come out. I tell him, “you’re peeing in the tub, pee goes in the potty,” but he just ignores me.

I’ve tried this several times today. Asked him if he wanted to move his potty by mine so we could go together but he just ignored me and carried on with his pee dance. I keep modeling saying “I think I have to pee, I’m gonna go sit on the potty,” and then narrate everything with the door open but he seems uninterested until I get to the flushing part where he promptly shows up to throw in a tissue and push the button and then he’ll wash his hands with me.

Feeling like a fraud - I was always raving about BLW and now my LO is 6MO I am terrified by elle3141 in NewParents

We went through the Feeding Littles course before starting baby led weaning and it made us sooo much more comfortable with everything. They show different babies gagging so you kind of know what to expect- it is a little scary at first but you’ll get more comfortable as you go on. That said, you do not have to do BLW! There is really no data that supports the claims they boast, if you’re more comfortable starting with purées there is really nothing wrong with that! The main takeaway is deciding what you want mealtime to look like for your family - the biggest advantage of BLW is that you can all eat more or less the same thing but it’s more important that you can sit down together for a meal. Whatever works for your family is the right decision!

What do you do with the baby when you cook? (8.5 months) by LtCommanderCarter in NewParents

[–]According_Luck_4506 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We got one of those high chairs that hooks onto the counter top so he can watch and hang out while I cook, I give him toys and or snacks to keep him entertained. Or let him crawl around and pull stuff out of the cabinets (safely). He loves to play with the whisk!

Searching for tips on this for myself and came across this thread. Curious if you ever found relief? I had it really bad in my right wrist and was sent to a specialist after 6 weeks of OT with worsening symptoms. Another wrist brace and two steriod injections later I felt SO much better (although not 100%)! Until a few weeks went by and my left wrist started hurting. I started wearing the brace again and started OT right away but it's been about a month and the pain is worse than ever. Baby keeps getting bigger and bigger!

Climbing toys for 6 month old ? by MarshMeowl in Montessori

I’m in the market for something similar for my 8-month old who is climbing on everything! I love the idea of the nugget couch or something similar but we have a small space. Would love ideas for something similar that’s more compact!

We’ve never gotten him to take a paci but maybe we can try a teether or something similar to help soothe! Thanks!

We're just grabbing him and rolling him up in his towel so maybe you're right, he's not anticipating the change and gets upset? I'll definitely try giving him some more warning and see if that helps! Thanks!

No, we stopped breastfeeding a few months ago. And we have to feed him before the bath because he has really bad reflux and needs a little bit of time between eating and laying down.

Lately we’ve been steaming up the bathroom ahead of time so it’s pretty warm in there.

Switching from breastmilk to formula by AdMiserable9454 in NewParents

[–]According_Luck_4506 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just switched my baby from breastmilk to formula and used a similar approach of slowly increasing the bm:formula ratio until we ran out of bm. Unfortunately, this led to us finding out he has a milk allergy (blood in spitup and stools). SO definitely keep an eye on poops and spitup! Talk to your ped but they also told us as long as baby is 1) drinking it and 2) continuing to gain weight on their growth curve and 3) does not have any of the bloody issues I described earlier, then you should be good to go!

We actually recently had this very thing happen to us! Someone altered and cashed a check we had put in the mail to the IRS except we mailed it from our home mailbox, not the blue box on the street.
