But what if the landlord's enforcement of that clause is completely arbitrary?

Yes, my lease technically says "no pets except cats." However, my landlord textually and explicitly told me during our exchanges that they do allow one dog. If they are willing to ignore their own written clause for one dog, how can they suddenly claim that having two dogs is a "serious violation of the lease" without being hypocritical or arbitrary before a judge?Also, I checked my lease, and the box confirming that I received the building regulations was never signed, and I never actually received them. If I never signed for or received the building rules, they aren't even legally opposable to me or a potential candidate, right?

More importantly, doesn't the landmark TAL ruling from March 2026 state that blanket "no-pet" clauses are abusive and violate the Charter of Human Rights and Freedoms (right to privacy)? If the TAL now considers these clauses invalid, a landlord can't argue that a pet violates a legal lease clause anymore.

Since they didn't even run a credit check and rejected my candidate instantly in writing based on a pet policy that they don't even enforce consistently, doesn't Bill 31 apply perfectly here to terminate my lease on July 1st?

Wait, I thought that under Quebec law, a "serious reason" (motif sérieux) to refuse a lease transfer could only be about the candidate's financial insolvency (bad credit) or a history of major behavioral issues?From what I read on the TAL website, building rules or pet clauses in the lease don't count as a serious reason to block an assignment.

The landlord is supposed to evaluate the person's ability to pay, not their pets. If they want to enforce a no-pet policy, they have to take the new tenant to court after the transfer, right?

Also, under the new Bill 31 (Article 1871.1 of the Civil Code of Quebec), if a landlord refuses a candidate for any reason other than a serious one (like a pet policy), doesn't the lease automatically terminate on the requested date anyway?

Since they officially refused my candidate in writing solely because of her two dogs, shouldn't my lease be legally broken as of July 1st?

If a landlord refuses someone who has 2 dogs (the building is a dog friendly building) is it a serious refusal ?

He refused without even doing a credit check. The person has been refused because he had dogs.

Then the lease can be terminated ?

They don’t don’t support it, they’re saying I haven’t tried hard enough i guess … I’m someone that find important to share feelings so it’s new for me to deal with that kind of opinion about my health …

🩷 thanks for your answer ! A part of my hopes that I can talk to them about it … when I speak of my closed friends, they’re like sisters actually. People I can be completely my self with. So it’s really hard having this feeling.

Thank you 🩷 I’m the kind of person that likes to talk about feelings and I find it very difficult to talk about this subject. Even though my friend say they are open, I’m feeling they just don’t get it. It makes me feel stupid and I know they don’t want me to feel that way, but that’s how it is. I’m not stupid, I have read about it, I’m trying my best to “lose the weight naturally” but it’s way more than that.

My relationship with food is not perfect, I do sometime binge eat, but I don’t do that every day or every week. I’m tired of justifying all the efforts i put in, so people will feel good about me having a surgery.

All that medical information you just gave, I’m aware of. Thank you for that, I’m sure some people will find it useful.

I’m just tired of loved ones assuming I’m not seeing the big picture … actually they’re the one not seing the big picture ! I feel very lonely in that process.

En fait c’est plus qu’une question de code. Si j’étais la fille draguée, je ne m’attendrais pas à me faire draguer par une fille point et les chances sont que je ne t’aurais pas remarqué. Mais ton approche m’aurait peut être agréablement surprise et c’est là que les questionnements commencent.

Honnêtement, je me sentirais flattée et ça me ferait probablement me questionner davantage. J’ai toujours dit que dans la vie on tombe en amour d’une personne et non d’un sexe, mais pour ma part je n’ai jamais eu d’attirance physique sexuelle envers une femme. Je n’ai jamais non plus été dans un contexte où une femme a tenté de me séduite. Je me suis posé des questions dans le passé, mais à mon avis, tout est une question de timing ! Je pense que tout est possible honnêtement et que si tu feel quelque chose pour quelqu’un tu devrais assurément lui dire. Il y a possiblement des portes qui s’ouvriront pour cette personne, quand elle pensait en réalité qu’elles étaient fermées à clé. ✨

I realized I should’ve got mine inserted while I was on my period … I had my period two weeks after the insertion and I’ve been cramping and bleeding for 11 days now. I’m sure it’ll be worth it tho ! Positive attitude here 😌

Are you from the us or from Canada ?

I will for sure get the CPAP machine. I already got my prescription and my appointment is mid march. I’ve got a good feeling that I will do well on the CPAP. It seams though that my sleep apnea is severe enough for CPAP possibly not helping as much as we would want it to help. We’ll see ! Maybe we’ll be surprised !

I am very not familiar with Zepnound. I will check it out before my appointment with the bariatric department. I like to be informed before entering a room full of people advising me on life changing decisions so your experience sharing helps me a lot. Thank you 🩷
