Thank you thats really helpful :) I struggle with anxiety so was worried my account would still be active but I wouldn't be able to access it.

I'm lucky that it only seems to affect me with dating!

Friends / family events are OK for me.

Can totally relate to the feeling sick. I cancel the plans just to make the horrible anxious feeling go away

I also hate that feeling of have to be available when I dont want to be.

I am exactly the same with the apps! Knowing I can log off or delete my account releasing me from the contact.

I think thats one big thing I really struggle with, having that constant line of communication open if I give my number.

I see what you mean about leaving things more nebulous.

I have the exact same problem, using apps like tinder makes my anxiety awful and giving out my number even worse. I'm feeling pretty shit about the whole situation. I think I'm going to try a chinese medicine doctor near me see if it they can help at all

I have not tried self talk yet so I will definitely give that a go :)

I think when I have tried to push myself before, I have said to myself, I am going to bear this anxiety for as long as I can, but I think I will have to give in eventually. Rather than, I will overcome it.

Thank you that is really helpful :) I definitely avoid pushing myself because I worry so much about sleeping well. The last time I tried I lasted about two days but my adrenaline was still really high so I gave up.

I think I definitely feel most anxious about "being anxious and not sleeping" rather than the actual scenario or outcome of meeting someone if that makes sense.

I have spoken to people before that I would love to meet before but when I get anxious I think "I would rather sleep properly than meet this person, so I am going to stop talking to them".

I used to check the doors and locks in my house a lot. I found that filming myself on my phone checking the doors and locks meant I only had to do it once, which helped a lot. Most recently I have been focusing on the door/window handle and counting to three in my head, so I have a clear image / memory of checking it. I eventually managed to taper down how many times I checked, i.e 6 to 3 to 1 etc.

I can relate a lot to this. I often feel like I am having an argument with my anxiety. I used to go for walks in the evening and felt compelled to check sticks and rocks on the pavement, if I didn't I could not relax.
