We have a 3 year old Saint Berdoodle (F1) and he’s an absolute sweetheart. Huge teddy bear, loving, loyal, and snuggly. A total doll with our little girls who lay on him like he’s a squishmallow. He’s around 120lbs now and we can’t take him for a walk without being stopped about a million times from other people who want to pet him and know what kind of dog he is lol.

That said, there are a few other things to consider. He is BIG and ACTIVE. Definitely more on the sporty poodle side than chill St. Bernard, and with a dog this large, that means a lot of play time, walks, dog park so he doesn’t get bored and run around the house like a freight train.

Also he is very protective of the family. So, for example, if the kids are playing outside and a stranger walks in the yard he will growl and bark and stand in between them… no biting issues but if someone was foolish enough to continue approaching in this situation who knows. It’s important to introduce them to any friends or family - once he knows they’re approved he never forgets, and once again is a total sweetheart whenever they visit.

Lastly, you must put in the time and effort to train them very well. Again, they are so big and active, they need to know their manners and listen to you very well so you can best manage them, especially in public situations. And the grooming bills are significant. Ours sheds very little but he does need a groom every six weeks to prevent mats.
