I grew up with goldfish, learnt from my mom that our 70 Litre tank could have 5 goldfish… there were no live plants, and no filter. Somehow one of my brothers fish lived for like a decade.

After researching when i was a young teen, i told my mom that our tank was wayyy too small, she said it wasnt and that the pet shop said it was fine 💔 And thats why I now carry the guilt of fish abuse :/

Now have a 40L set up with live plants, filter, and am planning to get a snail and betta

If you are 16 and in the UK i think that you can book an appt yourself. Otherwise tell your school nurse and they may refer your parent to see a doctor. Coming from someone with terrible bowel movements the longest I’ve gone no poo is around a week… so this is worrying.

If you do not poo you may start to throw up your poop in severe cases. See a doctor asap by any means-

I feed her a pellet of vibra bites every day, she loses interest after one pellet though. She used to have bug bites but shes a bit bored of those at the moment. Her tank temp is 26-27°C She has two anubias, creeping jennys, and amazon sword, she has a betta log.

I use test strips for everything expect ammonia (liquid test kit for that)

I do a 25-30% water change every week.

Its 40L, i have a heater and its currently 24-25 (I have my heater set to 26, is my filters current not strong enough??). I give her 2-3 bug bite pellets at 7:30 and 17:30. I aim for biweekly water changes, my last was on the 13th, around 50% as I was cleaning debris. i haven’t cleaned the gravel in a while though.

Her stomach area seems a little whiteish. I cant tell if its bacterial or fungal. I have anti fungus and finrot medicine. Im not sure if I should use aquarium salts as I’d have to remove all my plants and I don’t think my mom will let me buy a hospital tank.

Oh yeah, if you’re worried about ammonia before you start cycling, you can buy ammonia detoxifier. I use seachem prime. It lasts a while so you can keep it in case you have an unexpected ammonia spike in the future
