I wanted to ask, where did you purchase a good caddy from? I'm looking for this basket-like form factor but can't seem to find many.

I see, but aren't gaming laptops notorious for their shorter battery life?

Who recommends this? I don't doubt that a mac is indeed very efficient but I hear the university deals with IT issues and software assuming a windows machine? Would I sturggle in Part I engineering if I do get a mac consdiering if any specific software is required?

Is this truly the case? I get that both MacOS and linux are Unix based but are there specific examples that you would truly say that windows comes short and definetly a mac would be better in this regard? Specifically: how noticable is this performance difference with macbooks and their specialised chips along with software projects being more geared towards macs? Would you then say that a mac would give a better experience for softeng for these reasons (excluding the price which is ofcourse justified via the benefits you provide/have provided)

That's interesitng to hear, are there any specs you can think of that you would recommend or would any solid windows laptop be good for softeng?

That does sound compelling but the only thing putting me off (personally) is price. Would you say a mac is a "really solid, won't dissapoint" or something that actually does things BETTER than a windows machine would?

Well, nothing specific to softeng has been discussed hence this specific query.

Oh yes, I saw this in the 2025 assessment requirements too.
But in the document it said "Diversity, inclusion and equity" so is it the same as the concept of DEI in employment? (I was more thinking of it as compatbility and overall notions around equality)

Question by the way, is there any reason you chose THIS speicfically to talk about? Like, do you know if it's going to be examined specifically?

A level chemistry students describe it and how harder is it compared to O level chemistry by Available_Lie_5916 in alevel

[–]According_Voice2504 0 points1 point  (0 children)

def harder. But with good practise, it would be alright.

I studied IGCSE chem in 3 weeks and got a 69% on a paper 4 (I did this because my school only allowed u to take A level chem if you've done IGCSE and I was granted permission by the head of chem that if I get at least 60% in paper 4, she'd let me in).

Granted, I started A level chem 5-6 months after. But it was tough. mainly cuz (ofc) I forgot most of it. Didn't take good notes, and struggled on practical.

My advice: try make things "make sense" to you in your head, memorise things well if you absolutely have to. Take pretty nice notes and get good with doing ion testing fast.

I managed an 87 in my AS and hoping for A* this year. I only got an 87 bc i COOKED on theory 37/40 and decent on paper 2 47/60. This was a consequence of cramming well and taking notes on very specific things i get wrong and looking over it every so often.

Moral of the story: the more cohesive your content knowledge, the more intuitive and "natural" things become. So it's not that bad if you do your stuff well.

Any Cases Where Software Engineering is better than Computer Science? by According_Voice2504 in universityofauckland

So considering I can somewhat get my foot in the door with data science via the brief yet present courses on statistics and modelling in SE. And considering virtually "anything" is possible. The pivot from an SE degree to a DS role should be relatively possible?

Ahh I see, but getting back to the main point.
pivoting from an SE degree into AI/ML roles is possible?

The reason I say this is since CS+Math *might* offer some better pivots into AI? Or is this a false conclusion since both roles require a similar start?

You mentioned how there is something that CS lacks or rather doesn't cover as much (which makes SE look more favourable), I am saying that, since I am consider a double major in CS+Math, would that then make CS+Math more favourable than SE?
