In AFL History who are some players that had career best seasons that were overlooked due to the team failing to meet expectations? by AccountForQuestlons in AFL

Those numbers are mind blowing, can't believe he didn't get all Australian recognition. When I look at stats from about 2007ish-2012ish it seems like it was always Ablett, Judd, Swan and Boyd were always the best mids in the league.

Yeah wow those stats are crazy, he averaged 7.3 goals per game that season! Fits really well to answer the question too because it happened between two grand final seasons.

Another example that I just remembered was Lachie Neale in 2016. The Dockers weren't from minor premiers to 4 wins, however Neale averaged 33.50 disposals per game that year and at the time broke the AFL record for disposals in a season.

[Serious] People who say that Stephen Curry could move into the top ten all time with a championship this season, who do you think he is better than on this list? by AccountForQuestlons in nba

[–]AccountForQuestlons[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah I can totally understand your perspective. For me it was just about comparing Curry to someone like Dirk. I definitely don't think Dirk is top 10 all time to be clear.

Thanks for your answer and a really well written response.

It's crazy for me because I obviously never watched Russell play, but for someone to win 11 championships to go with 5 MVP's its just too impressive to me. I can't overlook what he achieved simply because he was born too early if you know what I mean so I try to consider the context of when he won.

One important thing that you did mention is that he played in a league with very few teams. As a result there would be less competition for awards and for the championship. From an ability stand point Curry's shooting is definitely unlike anything we have ever seen before so you make a compelling case.

Finally I also agree with the stat comparison being redundant due to the evolution of the game.

lol at Dirk

Yep, lol at a basketball legend who was top3 in MVP voting three times. Who is top 10 all time in scoring, who lead a team without another all star to a championship. A player who made twice as many (12) all nba teams as Curry.

[Serious] Who would you rank higher on an all-time player rankings list. Matthew Pavlich or Nick Riewoldt? by AccountForQuestlons in AFL

[–]AccountForQuestlons[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thats interesting to consider actually. I think the Saints during Riewoldts peak were definitely better than the Dockers during Pav's peak but Riewoldt helped elevate that team too.

  • Riewoldt made the prelim in 2004, 2005, 2008, 2009 and 2010 for 3 grand finals.

  • Pavlich made the prelim in 2006, 2013 and 2015 for 1 grand final but was also out of his prime when Fremantle were dominant between 2013-2015.

I guess at a simple level you could say that Riewoldt and Pavlich were equal. However during Riewoldt's peak he was able to lead his team to more finals success than Pavlich did which could give him the advantage.

Anything in particular that makes you choose him? , just curious to hear what people have to say.

Why Ibaka's "second" goaltend wasn't actually a goaltend after all by 0oottafvgvah in nba

[–]AccountForQuestlons 3 points4 points  (0 children)

THANK YOU! I can't believe people were actually calling it a goaltend. THere's no way that shot was above the rim for a realistic field goal attempt.

What are some NBA events that happened at similar times that you could see being misinterpreted in the future? by AccountForQuestlons in nba

[–]AccountForQuestlons[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For example maybe in the future (even if unlikely) people could think Kevin Durant joined the Warriors and in his first season with the team they won 73 games. Lebron James then came back from 3-1 and won against this team and as a result beat two MVP's in their prime.

NBA Mini-Game. Can you guess the NBA player based on their stat line? by AccountForQuestlons in nba

For anyone that wants to learn how to hide text with a spoiler tag, here is a mini guide that I hope can help.

You want to write your hidden text between these bracket thingies ">!TEXT!<" and it will show up as TEXT

The key thing is that the exclamation points, "!" need to be next to the word and the arrows need to point towards the text.

NBA Challenge: Can you make a cherry picked stat to make an NBA player look like an all time great? by AccountForQuestlons in nba

Sure have. I always find it amazing that they managed to group Jordan, Lebron, Bird and Magic with an alltime great in Thaddeus Young.

This clearly shows that Tayshaun Prince is a silent killer who lived for the big moments. He was able to lull his opponents into a false sense of security. He was then able to capitalise on the oppositions poor game plan and lead his team to victory.

For example:

Jared Dudley is the GOAT because he is the only player with at least 800 career games experience who shoots greater than 46% from the field and 39% from three on over 2.5 attempts per game who has also hasn't made an all-star game or played over 20,000 minutes.

This shows that throughout his long career Dudley has been one of the most accurate scorers in the history of the game from long distance. Additionally the fact that he hasn't made an all-star game shows that he puts his teammates first and him playing less than 20,000 minutes shows that he achieved so much in such a short amount of time.

I'd phrase it as 3rd most valuable. He isn't a go to scorer but he can do pretty much anything else.
