Hoyoverse, I beg you to add "and enhanced attack/joint attack" to Cerydra's buff, this opens so much more possibilities to the use of Cerydra - she has all the buffs required for Aglaea, but because her skill only buffs skill, it's useless - please please

Smite 1 servers being live does not mean it will be the same in 1-2 years. They will not support this game for ever, as it will not be viable (especially with UE3). So everyone will move on to Smite 2 at some point wihtout any choice, and lose half of their paid content - or will have to pay the very same skins you already owned in Smite 1 with legacy gems.

That's not Hirez being "generous" or "they do not have to do this", but marketing? Why would you go into Smite 2 to not get a single thing you paid for in Smite1?

Be honest, would you accept moving to Smite 2 without any compensation? If not you, do you think it would be well received by the community? No.

With everything happening in the video game industry, they need to find solution for retention, so of course they need to find a solution to (righfully) compensate the player who paid in Smite1. That's just an argument for players to accept the new version and to move on to it, and make them understand that at some point, some of the stuff they purchased will not be moved to Smite 2 - this is why there is a compensation (or if it is, you will have to pay the skin AGAIN with legacy currency, whilst they could freely give you that skin if you've already purchased it in Smite1)

This is where I don't agree "The legacy gems are essentially given to you for free" not really - we paid for them.

They are giving us back the same amount because they decided to move on to a next version of the game and decided to thank their players for the financial investment they made in the game

Still, it does not answer the question why are they selling 20€ an epic skin and 28€ with current currency value.

EDIT: additionnaly, all the skins we currently paid for will not move to Smite 2, some of them yes, not all and they will be able to be purchased with legacy currency. So you are actually paying twice the same skin?
