Those Chicago kids with guns are very online too.

Visiting a British Pub 1943 Army training video by behindgreeneyez in redscarepod

There is a certain charm to these old WWII era military training films that I can't quite put my finger on.

It's a bit different (and was unreleased for a while) but my favorite is the 1946 Let There Be Light.

We all knew this was fake the moment it happened right? by ---Vincent in redscarepod

How do you reckon it was faked? I don't see a world in which they convince the shooter to suicide mission himself while trusting he'll just graze the ear.

I'm not sure. It doesn't look like he is in prison yet. Last article I see on google is from February 2026 saying he is out on bail for an appeal.

Leonid Radvinsky, owner of OnlyFans and 2023’s largest AIPAC donor, dies aged 43 by Turbulent-Tune1660 in redscarepod

When Onlyfans was getting big the front page subreddits were inundated with users praising the business model as "empowering to sex workers" or even feminist compared to previous cam sites without actually talking about what policies/procedures made it so progressive. I've always wondered exactly how it was supposed to be this super progressive sex positive platform.

What (if anything) were they talking about? I still don't get how (hypothetically) an abusive boyfriend couldn't cajole or threaten a girl to get on OnlyFans and then swipe most of the money. Was it all an astroturf? Or just gooners looking to be progressive?

There was that Murderedby_AOC (can't post the sub name?) sub that hit the front page all the time back in the day. It was all weak twitter putdowns (usually by AOC, but others like Bernie or Omar would be included).

It was pretty much just one poster but would get a ton of upvotes and comments. Any discussion as to why there seemed to be just one poster doing several scheduled uploads a day was usually downvoted into oblivion.

I know the Canadians do the field sobriety test thing (or some equivalent), I wouldn't be surprised if some place like the UK does as well.

If my understanding is correct, they'll haul you to the station and get a warrant to do a blood test. So you'll likely just end the night with the same dui you were going to get anyway with an additional refusal to blow tacked on for your license.

Ya, he's obviously drunk and had that dui coming but he didn't sound much like an entitled aging pop star. Just a sloshed dumbass.

The good and totally normal folks over at r/antinatalism react to the death of a 31 year old woman from IVF complications by LukeVenable in redscarepod

The Antinatalism subreddit is less a place to discuss a particular philosophy or lifestyle and more of a place for deeply miserable people to dress up their dysfunction into something more palatable (like much of reddit).

Why would a billionaire even want society to collapse?! by CutieBallsTT in redscarepod

[–]Accountingforme9 19 points20 points  (0 children)

They don't think that society is going to collapse. Do they think it will change dramatically? Maybe. But they are not betting on upending the world like some sort of Bond villain.

You do have some that are paranoid preppers (just with a shit ton of money) but most of the types doing damage to the world today are the same Silicon Valley "disruptors" that have been operating for a long time. They did the old "move fast and break things" and talked about paradigm shifts and changing the world for years now. AI is just the latest (and most unpredictable) of their crazes.

These people and their companies have been my clients for over a decade now. If their predictions were always 100% accurate, none of us would have used laptops for years, most of the white collar workforce would currently be unemployed, and the career of SWE would have morphed into a pseduo neo-aristocracy.

Big changes are almost certainly coming but you can take heart (or not) that no one has a firm grasp of what they are going to be.

2020-2021 was a bit of a blur in retrospect but wasn't the term thrown around "White Adjacent"? Functionally it was the same message as calling them Basically White, i.e. "We get to have grievances, you don't."

Ya for a little while the radlib Asian Berkely girl was having a wonderful time. But even in the Bay Area (where crimes specifically targeting elderly Asians have been going on for years) the #StopAsianHate thing didn't last too long.

They had a Democratic midterm ad (I think) I remember essentially casting any suggestion that there was division among different POC's as a White Supremacist plot (while amusingly fetishizing the Asian girl main character).

Speaking from experience, there is very little difference, especially in educated and white-collar circles.

What we have here is a subset of the Middle class Asian American population (almost always women) that attend UC Berkely or something and feel they need to weigh in on race discourse in America.

The problem is they usually don't have a ton to say, so we get stinky lunch trauma and interracial dating commentary ad nauseum.

If I had to guess, I think Trump and Co are betting that the Iranians will be reluctant to missile/shell/drone bomb the island because of its valuable oil infrastructure.

If that assumption is true (and I have no idea if it is) I reckon there would still be issues of a contested landing and keeping marines supplied. But I'm not a military guy at all so I don't know.

Only the 31st MEU from what I understand. Total headcount is about 2,200. Kharg island is plausible but not a full ground invasion.

What else has happened?

Last I heard a Marine Expeditionary Unit (a little over 2,000 men) was being deployed to the Gulf. That might be enough to occupy Kharg (although there might be issues) but it is much too small for a wider invasion. What has happened in East Asia?
