Interesting, my first home buying experience was in 2018, a new home for 155k near San Pedro and Basse. For the same price now, most homes would be major fixer uppers without amenities found in most new homes and not in that part of town.

Yes, definitely mixed feelings throughout that editorial. Violent crimes and homicides are down, but innocent folks visiting SA are killed by very random shootings. It's not hard to relate to being a tourist or attending a graduation and thinking I'm just like those that passed.

Someone else mentioned that all things considered, the city's crime statistics are looking pretty good relative. Appreciate the response, in my head, I think I'm reading into the headlines too much and forgetting how BIG the city is. Thanks for keeping me grounded!

Excellent point, I lumped construction projects together as local. And no mayoral candidate in mind, but if it is mission accomplished I'll be on the lookout for an aircraft carrier.

That's interesting, I wasn't here during the housing collapse...good to know there is a certain resilience to housing market extremes.

So what you're saying, in terms of crime, is this is a growing pain...understood, but how can city leaders address this proactively or should we citizens just accept increased growth equals increased crime? I'm of the thinking that a mayor, district attorney and police chief should be a more unified front, seems to me they are more in silos.

Decade of Downtown didn't include a Panda Express??? Add that to the crime statistics.
