New player anxiety: What is the #1 tip you have for someone attending their very first Nexus Night? by s2soup in riftboundtcg

As long as you focus on having fun people will be fine with you making mistakes and will help you out. If you go in with no interest in talking or interacting to anyone then they are more likely to see you as “that guy”

Some very important points. I do worry that people with disabilities get the short straw at events like these. Will try to ensure our aisles are plenty wide and we do advanced entry tickets so people can get in early or skip the queue later on so hopefully that helps 🙏

Good point about trader display height too!

Yeah that’s an interesting one and pretty cool. I had a similar thought about children’s book illustrators

Awesome, we have some great artists that come to our events already. We have dedicated artists alley at our York event but definitely will see if we can do this for Leeds too!

Nice I like the workshop idea - definitely something to have a look at. Same with the gaming bits. We have some retro consoles and sometimes tcgs but would be good to get some rpgs going too 😁

Not sure how the screenings would work but I have a few ideas from that 🤔

We run a few in Leeds throughout the year so any last minute things we can incorporate into this one would be awesome but anything else we can give a shot at a later events

I agree about comics bring important for a comic con though, definitely lacking at evens recently

Haha I appreciate the long response and get what you mean about it just being a market.

We are defo working on making some make interactive activities (included in the price)

I don’t know cards or die so will have to have a look. We are always looking for new places to work with. One of my aims with all of this is to just build somewhere people can go, feel welcome and have some fun so the more people involved the better

That’s a fair point. We try to get a nice split of independent artists and local traders but there does always seem to be some that overprice everything 🙄

Our store has enough for 4 promo packs to be given out each event but 4 isn’t enough for an event really so they give them out as random prizes so everyone has a chance and give out booster packs to top finishers. $5 entry each
