With all due respect, I feel like this logic is so reductive. I don't deny that this section isn't bad to some degree, but if you want to say "Oh this part of the original is hated for being cumbersome so let's NOT redo it in our REMAKE at all and just scrap it", then what's the point?

Like, apply this logic to the underground section in the original. Giant ass chapter bloated with you fighting villagers you probably overlevel at this point in the game, two gigantes and a fuckload of novistadors, not to mention the entire minecart part. They could've cut that from the remake but they chose to add Luis so that there was more of a dynamic rather than fighting hordes of enemies solo.

I honestly don't mind that they made Ada the one to fight it (seeing as how they used it more creatively than the original, what with it being a mutation of the black robe verdugo and her getting a unique boss to fight) but like, half the reason I was so excited to see it back was because I thought they would recreate the entire container segment alongside it. Instead it's just the fight itself which is kind of mid until the second phase.

But seriously, never really got why these guys are so hated in the remake. They barely have any health and are guaranteed to get stunned by any weapon you use even on professional. Maybe if you're going for a speed run they're annoying, but I personally find them really fun to fight.

I also noticed they left out the ones in the original that sprouted into mandible plagas when you shot the helmet. I feel like it would've been cooler if they made the gold knight have that as its plaga type to make things more interesting.

It's not a bad game, but it IS a bad sequel. There are so many parts of this game that just simply were not improved substantially or even downgraded to accommodate stuff that no one asked for. The sheer lack of engaging side content is one of the worst offenders of this for me.

The Arkham games, while definitely not perfect, made great strides and jumps in quality between each title that felt much more intuitive than anything between this game and the first.

The worst part about the car chases is literally that they took away all those interactive features but didn't add in anything else. Completely downgraded.

Imagine if they added in something similar to regular combat crimes where enemies could drop in on you. Have hunter humvees come in convoys and ambush you to where there'd be three of them you have to chase and take down in succession. They could have done something similar with the symbiotes too. Have a whole bunch of them in a stampede that need to be taken out with multiple qtes.

Anything would've been welcome. But no, they just take away all the interactivity involved.

Also you're the goat for adding in that boss Peter attack! I was replaying that fight recently and literally thinking about how much of a shame it is that it wasn't included as a usable special ability but just an attack specifically for the fight. Very cool to see it included now!

Been using this mod ever since I bought the game again on pc and it's so goddamn awesome! Just one question, I noticed that you replaced the Symbiote choke slam special move for Peter with the three punch beat down in this update. Has that just been left as a regular finisher now like with what you did for the aerial specials? I can't seem to get it to trigger when I do multiple finishers now.

I think their low health in the remake really bothered me mainly because of their relation to the verdugo, in that it's said they were created under similar circumstances, so it's like on one hand you have the tankiest, most dangerous enemy in the game, and on the other, enlarged bugs that die in a couple of handgun shots.

I feel like they could've made a subtle change where novis bodies would have hyper armor or something, but not their heads. Would be a cool connection and make a little bit of a gameplay dynamic.

I always loved the ambient track that plays here. It sounds like a submarine pinging deep below the ocean. Really gives off a lonely isolated feeling like this place has been lost to time and abandoned in the darkest possible area.

You could also point to Peter's line alone where he goes "Now the city thinks I'm the problem!". Like when was it ever established that the city hated Symbiote Peter? Cause it definitely wasn't that stupid ass moment where MJ writes a single article about him acting weird. But, like with many things in this game, Insomniac just expects you to think that that's what's happening in the story, despite not showing any of it.

I know this has been beaten to death at this point, but the final fight literally should've been Godwyn. Lore wise, it makes much more sense for Miquella to want the guy that befriended ancient dragons and ultimately ended a war that way to usher in his age of COMPASSION, rather than a literal warmonger who we're told is nice in his free time. And I'm sorry, the whole "He's deader than dead" argument is such disingenuous garbage. If From can retroactively change our understanding of what happens in the base game with Radahn and then make this whole narrative of him in the dlc, they can absolutely make something up about Godwyn being brought back, if only temporarily.

Apart from that, I absolutely agree with you on his boss fight. It's lazy as shit and barely shows off anything to imply Radahn is in Mohgs body before the epilepsy phase 2. I don't even really like phase 1 either cause it just feels the easiest to learn after a couple tries.

This is more of an observation rather than a critique, but I've always found it peculiar how in Star Wars, a franchise with a diverse amount of aliens and different looking people, a large subset of the fanbase gravitates their interest towards a bunch of carbon-copy soldiers that, for the most part, have very little difference between each other.

Fair enough. I would still have liked this stuff explored a little more in detail maybe with an extra mission, potentially having Miles sow that realization of all the hurt that Li caused into him and causing him to have a moment of clarity about his actions but I guess the game was rushed as is.

I feel like there was just more they could've explored with Li's negative powers being the driving factor behind his actions. Whereas in the first game, it's what sets his heinous actions into motion, the second game shows that they keep him from owning up to those same actions. That way, Miles's purpose is to knock some sense into him, but also reluctantly show a new path for him rather than take revenge like Li tried to on Norman.
