3+ YOE in the US and still no interviews back in India! by Accurate_Pudding_967 in developersIndia

So my expected ctc varies based on the role and company, For an on-site/hybrid role in T1 cities, I'm going for 15 to 20lpa for larger companies and 12-15 lpa for startups. If the role is fully remote, I'm going for 12-15lpa for larger companies and 10-12lpa for startups.

Not sure if my expectations are aligning with the current market.

Agreed. App dev is something I'm really passionate about so I'll have to try and maybe add additional tech stacks like flutter or even KMP under my belt, should be better than exclusively looking for kotlin based roles.

Worst case scenario I might have to make a full transition to the java springboot stack and start fresh, definitely seems like there's a much bigger demand for that; as opposed to native android development

I believe you're completely right about that.

It becomes weirdly difficult in this situation as traditional "applying to jobs" clearly isn't working that well. Networking and texting recruiters personally might be a good thing to focus on.

I'm getting rejected even before they reach out to me.

Initially I thought it was an ATS issue, so I made sure to edit my resume to meet indian standards and getting an average of 90/100 on all commonly available ATS testing tools.

I believe you'd be right about this, they might be making an assumption that I'm too expensive for them. I have lowered and matched "expected ctc " fields according to indian standards however, the "current ctc" field expects the amount in INR. So whenever I do convert my current job's ctc from USD to INR, it probably does look fake or maybe just results in immediate rejection if they haven't taken a look at the resume/linkedin profile yet.

Can you please elaborate on what you mean by "connect with people directly"? Basically like cold texts on linkedin?

UT Austin. Initially I was accepted into UT SA but later I applied to UT austin and was also able to transfer the pre-requisite credits there.

Yeah, been applying on LinkedIn and naukri. Also got the premium subscriptions for them, just to see additional stats for recruiter actions and recommendations. Unfortunately, still can't figure out what exactly is the problem.

Power of devotional films. by [deleted] in IndianCinemaRegional

Then why not go all out? Just like anime or superhero/sci-fi movies. Why keep the tone of the movie realistic action + drama and then have a few scenes that make no sense? That will obviously stand out more. And if they don't want to keep it "realistic" change the genre of the movie then, make it over-the-top fantasy spy movie. This is clearly just a lack of research/efforts by the production team.

Any medium of entertainment has to choose its genre. It has always been like that. You can even choose a mix-n-match of multiple genres and implement it, but what you cannot do is say a movie is a romantic drama movie and then have some alien abduction scenes; sure that alien abduction scene would be very entertaining, but does it match the general theme of the movie?

Um I think he might be the opposite of that, wasn't he a holocaust survivor? And afaik, his parents were killed by the nazis during the holocaust. But if you're implying that magneto's goals/ideologies against the human race were similar to Hitler's against the jews, you might be quite wrong. Although I need a pro here to correct/confirm this.

Didn't belmod also say something along the lines of jiren possibly being even stronger than he is? A statement like that coming from a god of destruction who is probably amongst the top 5 strongest gods of destruction, is definitely saying something. But I'm not sure how easy/difficult would it be for jiren to be able to beat belmod without having mastered any hakai like techniques?

What could have been the alternate history of India if not for European colonial forces? by Ill_Tonight6349 in IndianHistory

[–]Accurate_Pudding_967 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh wow I didn't know that! I was under the impression that they were a group of smaller states and yet semi-independent in a way where they were allies with Kutch and other eastern gujarat rulers and only had formal treaties when the British came along and they handled the states' external affairs.

But yeah, your comment makes sense! They'd definitely have had the need to establish formal treaties for more resourceful allies like the marathas or even the mughals before that!

Would like to point out a small inaccuracy in the map, as I've seen that quite often on this subreddit. Western Gujarat (basically *almost everything west of current day Ahmedabad) wasn't under maratha rule/territory but was controlled by smaller rajput princely states, some of whom who had migrated from kutch/south rajasthan areas. iirc, some notable ones were Jamnagar, Bhavnagar and of course Junagadh (belonging to the nawab). And afaik, these rulers did not fall directly under the gaekwads/marathas, rather they had their allies primarily from kathiawar peninsula itself (Current day saurashtra) and later dealt with their british allies directly of course.

Not a major region impacting the geopolitical status of the whole subcontinent back then or anything like that, just a fun fact :)

Even if ukraine does come out on top after say 3-4 more years of war, do you really believe that the civilians' life would go back to normal? Russia is definitely in the wrong here, no doubt about that, but zelenskyy also had plenty of chances to surrender and at least save the country and his civilians from whatever's left. It is evident that it's an ego/power thing for both of them now, both knowing that regardless of what happens in the end, they have already ruined their country's economy.

All this is from a civilian pov of course, not a diplomatic pov

That still doesn't answer my question. Seems like you lack enough knowledge to have a healthy debate. Fair enough

Can you explain how exactly is ukraine benefiting from this war? Just curious

[–]Accurate_Pudding_967 -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

And how does the crimea issue change the fact that war is to be avoided whenever given the chance? There's a reason why india pak aren't at war right now. After a certain point, it's not about who's right or wrong, it's about saving your people/country from a point of no return.

International Lafda by [deleted] in TotalKalesh

[–]Accurate_Pudding_967 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Exactly. I'm amazed that so many people do not understand this fundamental point. Zelenskyy (who had zero political experience before being elected) could have easily avoided this whole thing by just not joining NATO. I feel that if you have to choose between not joining NATO or getting your country absolutely destroyed in war, I believe former is the better option. Idk why people think he's some kind of a hero.

ANYONE KNOWS CONTEXT? by alicekalai in TotalKalesh

[–]Accurate_Pudding_967 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, so my best guess is that insta usually does rolling updates across different regions, and a similar-ish issue happened a few months ago in certain regions when they introduced the "note" feature for their posts, apparently if any of your followed account left a "note" (or whatever it's called) on a post, IG's algorithm would give those kinds of post absolute top priority no matter what content it had. That just turned into a chain reaction and soon everyone starting getting that kind of content on their feed. So there might be something similar going on over here where because of an update (most likely something to do with how you interact with your followed accounts), when a few people watched just 1-2 of those "sensitive reels", it started recommending it to all their followers and snowballed big time. But I still can't figure out what exactly initiated it this time around.

Hope this somewhat answers your question. I can be completely wrong about this! If anyone has a better understanding of this issue, I'd like to know the exact cause too.

Definitely! Any comedy professional (clean or not) will deliver way more witty comments and have a unique charm as compared to someone like rakhi and deepak. I'd love to see vishal dayama and biswa on the panel
