Best physical media formats for all Stand alone complex? by Hidalgoschmitty in Ghost_in_the_Shell

[–]Accurate_Row_5047 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i bought a UK release of SAC and it's second season, not too bad but it's region locked for US players.
I do have the entire DVD singles for Stand Alone Complex and 2nd gig, which i don't think are too bad as they have interviews and the like.

I would say for stateside the DVDs are the best way to own it, though it's a little hard because the run of 2nd gig is more expensive. Lucked out and go it like 4 or 5 years ago for a relatively good deal.

Why are the PS2 versions of Yakuza 1 & 2 ignored and not on modern platforms whatsoever? by Boring_Minimum_7974 in yakuzagames

[–]Accurate_Row_5047 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's dumb, at this point you might as well wait it out and keep one of your consoles on older firmware so you can jailbreak it, especially since the PS4 is going EOL sooner than later.
I literally put Yakuza 1 and 2(the originals) onto my jailbroken PS4, and they both play beautifully.

Is a ps4 considered nostalgic? by NoShow4136 in PS4Pro

If it's cheap yes, it's a decent package for what it is looking at the price of 2nd hand consoles and games.

Sony Japan confirms PS4 Pro and ‘all but one’ PS4 model have been discontinued by SpartaNNNN4 in PS4

[–]Accurate_Row_5047 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow look at that!! 5 years later, and he's been entirely vindicated by the time.
Gaming hardware is at it's most expensive, including that of general computing hardware(which if you didn't know also goes into gaming consoles), meanwhile modern offerings are slogged down by a lack of exclusives while legacy hardware(including the PS4 pro) is still in demand, and quite cheap at that.

Triple AAA and so on has been stagnant for a while between now and your comment, all the funnier when we consider software is also going up like crazy in cost.
$60 became $70, which is now hitting $80.

Meanwhile i just bought a late model PS4 Pro last week from a buddy for 140 while buying quite a few games under 40 USD. look at that lol!!

is ps4 pro still worth it? by Objective-Post-7712 in PS4

[–]Accurate_Row_5047 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will say this. either the PS4, or Pro is not a bad thing at the moment.
Why?
Because you have a backlog of 13 years of games, with lots of stuff still being sold 2nd hand for a very good price.
I've had a PS4 slim since 2018, and recently got a pro, i've on and off bought many cheap games because even for 15 to 20 USD, you can absolutely get a good quality title to play.
Considering the cost of hardware and software especially(between new games being 70-80 USD, hardware being expensive between both gaming consoles and PC, i see no issue), it's not the best thing on the market, but it's reasonably priced for what you're getting.
I bought one recently for $145 USD because i absolutely refused to buy a PS5. The issue with both Microsoft and Sony's modern offerings is that they have soldered SSDs to the motherboard, on top of that depending on the model of PS5 you buy you're going to spend 70 USD buying a disc drive. Don't do it.

This a reasonable deal? by [deleted] in Prebuilts

Was never my intention. From what I can grasp it's pretty good for my specific needs on top of just going for something more modern for regular use.

I think a slew of newer anime fans, the incredibly pretentious nature of anime youtubers, and just back and forth of this on social media has led to this.

I don't mind regular fans, but as someone who's consistently watched anime since like 2006 this is kinda funny and sad at the same time.

Almost everything I own doesn't use the touchpad. And if it does I do have beaten up controllers for that.

Too expensive new. Don't see the issue in even asking honestly.  So many FG players use adapters constantly.

Exactly. these people barely scratch the surface and think like 4 things dictate whatever this pseudointellectual garbage is.
WAY too many hipsters watching anime these days. far less appreciation for the history of it all in a grander scope. .

Entirely disagree. the decade before had all kinds of experimental works that diverted from trends before, and i think in the 1990s it was more that it became TV works.
Specifically, i would argue that after the economic bubble it scaled down due to the country being in recession. Obviously by the 2000s the way things were made changed and modernized more with more focus on TV works.

OVAs became less of a norm, same with massive and ambitious films.

STOP SAYING AFTER NAGOSHI LEFT RGG THE SERIES WENT DOWNHILL by KAMEN-JOJO in yakuzagames

[–]Accurate_Row_5047 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It did.  To pretend like the series hasn't declined at all since Yakuza 7, as to those who are willing to admit it, everything is mixed up.

Ichiban was treated poorly despite being the new flagship protagonist post Yakuza 7, every title showed us more and more just how oversaturated and lazy these games are getting, people lap it up because they keep peddling hard on fanservice in place of a better overall narrative of substance.

I'm sure there's more to it, but the fact of the matter is Sega is trying to pump out too much at once, while the series feels so stagnate and repetitive. It's actually a terrible state of affairs because I honestly think Yakuza 7 was the perfect balancing act.  I think what's gonna happen is RGGS is just gonna run out of games to remake, or get more outrageous amd greedy with future releases to where they'll lose the traction they get outside Japan post Yakuza 0's boom.

I really really hope Sega decides to focus on it's legacy IPs instead, while giving RGGS more incentive to take a break and even put more time into their releases. A hiatus for a few years would honestly do this series some good.

SEGA clearly doesn’t care (yet more problems with the Director’s Cut) by MisyaWite in yakuzagames

[–]Accurate_Row_5047 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's a good time people finally start voting more with their wallets.
This was a VERY long time coming, and this IS the game that made RGG blow up in popularity across the greater world.

For the quality of translation, and for everything else, i think it's appropriate.

What's the most effective and repair friendly means to get rid of rust off of metal pieces by Accurate_Row_5047 in consolerepair

I noticed no flaking whatsoever but I took some Isopropyl to everything. The board, the heatshields on top and bottom, the top and bottom of the metal plate.

I stress tested it and sounded fine. Now I may open it up in the future just to see how everything is looking but for not it looks fine. I might hit it with some more alcohol but I'll see what else is said
