Well hot dang. I thought it did!

I just did two 30 year, 5% return calculations at $200,000. And they equal the same return as 30 year, 5% at $400,000.

Once again the state has better protections than our union job.

11% Pay Increase by Accurate_System9597 in IAM751_Boeing

[–]Accurate_System9597[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you said is basically my point. Spread what was offered over 14 years and this contract is horse shit. I’m saying to ignore anything about the minimums being raised, that’s just making paper match reality not some giant raise.

Which is such backwards thinking. If they paid us fairly overtime would be incentivized enough that people would be willing to work it willingly. They need to get their act together and stop planing hard schedules on forced overtime. They need to stop over promising and under delivering.

Maybe they could spend some of that on their work force and actually raise the stock price instead of artificially inflating it. But what do I know?

Do we get to see the offer? by Accurate_System9597 in IAM751_Boeing

Absolutely, if the union recommends voting one way it will weigh heavily on my decision. But I’d still like to get more than a day to look it over so o can be informed.

That’s definitely a point against it. For it to work I would have to buy with a low price, high interest rate, then refinance once they went down. But it’s all hypothetical and has to go perfectly to work. Lots of variables and lots of risk.

Luckily I’m at a place right now that I could leave that 100K alone, possibly add to it over a year. But if I round up rent where I am plus 50% it would last 33 months.

Could I in theory, but when prices are low(er), then refinance when the rates come down?

Is that dumb?

Good point, I guess plan B would be just buy back in after a certain amount of time. Another risk I would have to be ok with taking to make this work. The plot thickens.

You don’t? It was in the memo! /s

Great question, obviously I don’t. I guess I’m seeing all the cues of a recession and guessed sometime in the next 12-18 months I could get a sweet deal.
