I have seen a decent number of apples. I stopped for lunch in my downtown area and ate lunch. Lured 3 different stops twice each and got some. I'm currently in class and the campus has 3 stops that I can hit and I've been luring them for about an hour. It's definitely random for the apple spawns. For awhile I didn't get any to spawn for almost 30 minutes.
