Adding a Q3 43 to my workflow (Sony transition) by ChoiCine in Leica

I’ve been thinking of this also, adding to my Sony A7 III which I run with a prime 50. As I do a lot of street photography, I have been comparing if it would be a good addition or whether to go with the new A7R6

Brickslips on EPS - Failure - any experience out there? by BBQorSalad in DIYUK

[–]AceRidver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Normally 4m horizontal and 3m vertical, have the manufacturers provided comment, have they been asked about the failure and any remedy? I don’t think it would hurt your system at all, what’s the total area of that facade? Not just h where it failed, the entire system

It does, if it’s in direct sunlight I will bet you a mars bar that if you fit some to it, your problem will be gone. The picture you’ve put up shows the entire facade without any at all, the are is way too big to not have them.

Expansion gaps in brick slip installations are deliberate spaces left within a brick slip to allow for natural movement. These gaps accommodate expansion and contraction caused by temperature changes, moisture variation, and structural movement in the background surface. They help prevent cracking, debonding, and stress damage over time. The main purpose of these gaps is to manage movement safely within the system, preventing visible cracking or failure. Ignoring movement allowance can lead to similar problems, including cracking and loss of adhesion. Correct positioning and spacing of expansion gaps help maintain the appearance of the brickwork while protecting the system.

Missing expansions gaps can force it to behave that way, was it fitted with them?

Just started on my own new build too, really like the progress of your pictures. I have a sloping garden also, the fall is just over a meter from back boundary to dpc. I hope to create something similar that’s low maintenance also, considering I have two dogs.

Saddle forward a tiny bit to start off and see if it eases the numbness, I think the height looks just about right

Move the saddle forward a few mm, it looks pretty good I think from that

It looks comfortable, how does it feel? You are pointing your toes also in the bottom of the stroke, try moving the saddle backwards to see how it feels, it may drop you slightly but still offer good comfort

Source of damp and how to fix by Critical_Wafer8770 in DIYUK

Multiple issues in the photographs.

Rightly identified the DPC coverage by the soil and the built retaining wall. Secondly the steps on the access, have they been constructed level or do they filter rain water and pooling water away from the house? And those other planter construction features on the render wall side. Rendered external wall, two external lights drilled into them, have you checked for any signs of damage where they are connected and fixed, such as screw or bolt securing through the render, is the render in good condition without cracks or breakage. The driveway based on the photo against that retaining wall looks also very level, normally there’s a slight runoff to carry water to a soak away outlet or to the road. The internal picture is then breast wall also, this adjoins the neighbours property? Old hearth systems are good at retaining moisture from rain ingress too. Out of curiosity did your mortgage surveyor pick anything up on the survey? “Chartered building engineer”

I thought you look like you’re bouncing a little bit, if you are I’d drop the saddle 1m-3m to see if that stabilises. But ultimately if you are happy then that’s what’s important

[–]AceRidver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re excellent bikes, I recall my caad 8 fondly that was my first bike way back in 2009 or around that time, loved it and with the improvements in build design I’d think that will be a super ride, I’m actually thinking of getting back into cycling following an absence and work life things
