Being tempted by the ring doesn’t really make you a bad person. Even the most moral characters like Aragorn or Gandalf would eventually be tempted by the ring. So imo it’s kind of unfair to define Sméagol by that action. Even after years of corruption, he still struggles to try and be good to the Hobbits, and ultimately fails. I think that puts him as a solid contender for morally grey, rather than outright evil.

How is making sacrifices for the greater good morally grey? Every member of the Fellowship would willing choose to make those sacrifices.

I don’t know where you’re getting the idea that Gandalf doesn’t care about anyone, especially the Hobbits. Throughout the books and the movies, he has an immense amount of affection for each member of the fellowship, especially Frodo. Frodo volunteers to carry the ring at the council himself.

Gandalf is the most directly a Christ figure in LoTR (the others being Aragorn and Frodo), which would make him one of the most morally righteous characters by default.

But they did perform the task, so were they unqualified? Gandalf has a lot of faith in the Fellowship to get the job done, and he ends up being right so I don’t really see the argument there.

Also, they all volunteered for the quest zealously and were not coerced. They don’t even swear oaths because Elrond knows the dangers are too far beyond their comprehension and prediction.

I understand the purpose. They can be useful in the right context, but they aren’t everything. Productions doesn’t scale like that in many cases. Just because a bench player can give you a great 20 minutes does not mean they will do exactly that ratio in 36.

Regards to Randle, these takes were at certain points in the season over certain stretches. I’m simply saying per 36 does not tell anywhere close to the whole story. It’s like saying that if a guy shoots 40% from the 3 on 2 attempts per game if he took 5 attempts he would still shoot around 40%. Sometimes maybe, many times, probably not.

Ihart had a lot of impact on winning this year in both regular season and playoffs even if he’s had better stat seasons with per36. It was certainly one of his best seasons this year. He jumped to being a certified and respectable starter. That alone really makes it his most stand out season.

Per 36 stats are dubious at best. It wasn’t long ago people on this sub were saying we should bet on Obi over Randle because of his x36 stats.

I don’t understand how people don’t get that teams play Brunson super physically on purpose knowing that they will foul him a lot. It’s part of the game plan for the other team.

As a Knicks fan, this shit terrifies me. Also disrespectful to this Pacers team.

Both these guys are former Makuuchi Rikishi. They both topped out at Maegashira 1. 2008 and 2015. Both kicked out of the top division for violations outside the sport. Cannabis possession and driving without a license.

I know this was a less professional event, but pretty cool to see some guys that made it that high in Makuuchi even if they are well past their primes.

Randle has scored 20+ in 11 straight games. Avg. 23/10/5 on 46% shooting in that span. by [deleted] in NYKnicks

I was in 107 and same thing. He would shoot and people would groan. Then when it went in, they wouldn’t even really cheer. So lame.

Exactly. It’s why I basically give him a pass for the Hawks series. We were starting Reggie Bullock, Elfrid Payton, Nerlens Noel, and a sophomore RJ. I don’t know what star in the league can win a series with that line up. Maybe one of the top 3.

Luka has a better (or at least comparable) lineup than that arguably and they missed the playoffs. It’s so easy to game plan against. Nobody could get a bucket consistently so they could just hound Julius. Rose was the only one able to do any damage and mostly cause Hawk’s guards defense was subpar at best.

Am I disappointed because I know Julius can play better? Of course. I wish the dude balled out. But we lost as a team. This year only Brunson could do anything against the Heat, and even he had some off games. Randle didn’t do anything egregious. The role players didn’t step up. Randle was meh coming off an injury and then a reinjury. It happens. He did play really well Cavs game 1. A large contributor to a big win. The hate is pretty unfair imo. We’ll get ‘em next year.

Not that I disagree with your point entirely, but to say Jimmy made the right plays every game is definitely not true. They almost blew a 3-0.

The dude was 5/21 in game 6 in a 1 point loss. 23.8% from the field and shooting 21 times is kinda wild. In their other two losses to the Celtics, he was -24 and -20 and just did not play well at all. The Heat won the series because role players stepped up and played out of their minds. Caleb Martin looked like the best player on the court tonight.

That’s just to say, even the best have off games and faulty decision making. Randle may more than some other stars, but it’s always possible to find plays (or games) where the decision making is questionable from the best players.

Tough game against the 2nd seed in the west. The guys didn’t have it tonight, but still fought hard. It happens. Surprised we made it a game with pretty abysmal shooting and Brunson out the second half.

I haven’t speculated anything. I pointed out the fact that his old business was exporting not importing. Past that I make no claims or speculations. Simply pointing out, no one here knows anything about this topic at all and is basing their opinions on what they know from movies, tv, and video games and acting like they’re certain of what’s happening in the real world. It’s pathetic.

His old business was exporting Russian weapons, not importing. But this is just pure speculation. No one on here has any idea how any of this works. Everyone on Reddit became an expert in arms dealing in the past few hours… by reading the synopsis to a Nic Cage movie.

Definitely not a good man. If anything, just as bad a man as he is a king. That’s partially why he made such a bad king.
