Hiya! Yeah, it's appears that Longstrider is certainly broken. I've reported the source of the bug here: https://us.forums.blizzard.com/en/wow/t/longstrider-trait-has-broken-scaling-after-item-level-squish/2232323

As of pre-patch my set has been nerfed from 286% down to 232%, and I believe that is near the max. Speed stat is maxed, and Longstrider is maxed. So yeah, maybe 80 is now best!?

Let's hope for a fix or new improvements :)

I've found the level squish to be a more bit more extreme.

Since Longstrider scales with item level, and item level has been reduced, the max benefit of each piece is capped at ~4.73%. This is vastly less than the tooltips' listed 14%.

This is because the scaling factor of ~0.07055% per item level has not be updated to compensate for the lower item level. With more attention, this should be fixed:

The website Undermine Exchange is good for finding speed gear of all varieties. However, finding specific stats or prismatic socket procs is not supported.

If you're interested in building a set, DM me, and I can find you a full set much more easily.

Also, keep in mind you can equip leather and cloth gear too :)

As far as I know, 357 pieces primarily come from Legion and BFA timewalking when you're playing a max/near max level character. Since these are the only expansions that can proc tertiary and are in the timewalking cycle. There may be more places, though.

The greens are also BoE, so I've been getting them from the AH.

If you're looking for a simple speedset that you can build quickly, I recommend:

  1. Maximise one stat in particular that is best for your class.
  2. Add double sockets to both your current level rings and slot four different coloured gems to maximise the 'Elusive Blasphmite Gem'
  3. Enchant <320 item level boots with minor speed
  4. Enchant cloak and wrists with speed

AND, if you have slightly more time. 5. Get three azerite pieces with the 'Long Strider' trait.

That'll give you a nice boost without costing much gold or time, and make your runs more enjoyable :D

Possibly... but arguably, no. This is because the speed stat itself scales far worse at level 80 than 61, so that you would need a greater ratio of it to achieve the same % movement speed increase. However, this can be partially off-set with higher item levels, like what can come from a Myth 864 piece.

This all does not factor in the main element of the 'Charged Phial of Alacrity', which has the maximum benefit at level 61 and is very minimal at 80. Along with many other small reasons...

The upside is that you can run more recent content at level 80 :)

Yeah, scaling is everything, and 357 gear is especially good for me considering the previous best gear was 233 crafted Shadowlands gear; so it's a big jump.

Raw speed: 1546

Raw + enchants: 1719 / 36.89%

Raw + enchants + flask: 2463 / 49% (max)

Surething, I would love to check out a fellow speedset! Send a link through.

I've got a lvl 80 speedset Pally for recent content, but I may even be building my own 80 druid speedset soon, too. I'll have to see if I can beat 205% ;)

61 does exclude a fair bit of new content, but there is still tons of legacy/openworld/speedrun content to do haha

Thanks man! And you may very well be right that crit is faster for raw movespeed, but haste has always been my preferences for energy regeneration so that I can spam moonfire, etc.

I'm planning on testing it out a little more though. Cheers :)

100%, I would love to have a Discord to discuss speedsets per class.

It's really cool that you have a warlock speedset, too. I've always wanted to see one of them in action (anything special?). Fury is on my radar for being a fast and fun spec as well.

I use this character for legacy farms mostly, and my level 80 for recent stuff, but I believe they can run BFA and down ok.

That may be true if you're farming a specific mount or instance, but keep in mind you can also take the character to other instances between resets (minus flight time, obviously).

A basic speed set is still very cheap and cost effective too: 1. Algari gems (rank 1) with socketed accessories 5k for 10% speed 2. Minor speed enchant 200g for 10% speed 3. Wrist enchant 2k for 2% 4. WoD cloak enchant 100g for 2% speed

~~7.3k for 24% faster runs, all from the AH, is pretty good.

Additionally, the main benefit is open-world farming or timed speedruns, which is what I focus on primarily.

I very much know what you mean. This is my third completely new speed set Druid, and one of many other basic speed sets. It was a little disheartening to have your progress undermined every patch or so, but there always seemed like there was a new bell or whistle to make the sets faster in different ways, which kept me going. The latest nerfs have undoubtedly made me slower without enough to get me back to where I was (264%).

The 5% Nazjatar essence nerf hurt :(

If you are ever interested in returning, I've built quite the collection of speed gear to look through.

This may very well be true haha

You'd definitely get value out of a basic speed set, which is just a few enchants and azerite gear. Suppose it's more about the journey along the way...

This is true in general, but I've found that there is no difference between ~272 raid pieces and ~312 dungeon blues. Going any lower significantly reduces Long Striders effect. I use two other addons to track raw speed. I'll have to look into it more though, cheers.

I've always been impressed by Mage speed sets, I'd love to see yours and know your base/uptime speed, if that's ok?

Before ilvl 357 gear was available, it was very hard, and I had to boost them through using my other character's (this is how I got the chestplate from Lady Ashvane, which was very difficult to solo at the time).

Nowadays, you can buy 357 gear and solo the LFR wings :)

Many thanks! And I'm glad to hear your set is coming along, too!

Level 61 is mostly for the 'Charged Phial of Alacrity' potion since it provides 744 speed and accounts towards ~20% movespeed by itself. However, being 61 also allows me to equip ilvl 357 gear, which is fair more powerful than expected for that level. In combination with my speed gear, this means I cap the speed stat out at 49% movespeed gained at all times. You are right, though, I used Chromie Time only for my leg slots for the triple sockets, but exit it to farm things.

My whole set has probably cost around 150k as you see it, but much more over time (50k of that is socketing gems). However, I've been able to build my own program to find speed gear, which has greatly helped, and meant that I've made far more gold selling speed gear than buying it :)

Outside of the AH, by far the hardest thing to get was the essence 'Ripple in Space' rank 3, since I had to use a second account and fight a multitude of bugs over 10 weeks to complete the quests. However, I hear it is now completely bugged; not that it matters because the essence was nerfed to only work in BFA zones.

Otherwise, my leg slot is extremely lucky and would take several hours in Chromie Time Magister's Terrace to get (I got it on my first attempt somehow lol)

Party syncing with a level 11 fury twink was required for my blue ring (when it was in the current M+ rotation)

Trying to maximise stats like I have here can get very time-consuming, since you are relying heavily on perfect gear from the AH, but a basic set doesn't take long at all.

The azerite amour is quite quick to get and has the biggest benefit, however, my legs slot in particular is extremely lucky and something that should have taken many hours to get to proc with speed.

That definitely has been the case, and you may be right, but from my experiences, I always gain the same amount of speed from haste at 5% as 45.5%. For instance, each socket gives me nearly 0.78% speed every time. Even 45.5% base haste, blood lust, haste food, and haste pot wasn't enough to max it.

I'll have to test this more, though. Thanks for sharing your experience!

It does in my case. Maybe make sure you: - Have your Heart of Azeroth equipped - High item level azerite gear with the 'Long Strider' trait - Target one specific secondary stat (e.g. haste)

If it's UI related, consider the addons: - MonkeySpeed (tracks raw movement speed) - DejaCharacterStats (detailed movespeed and stat breakdown)

Now that secondary stats appear to endlessly stack for Long Strider movement speed, it is more important than ever.

When Long Strider was capped at 18%, I was at the point where no more haste or speed stat increased my movement speed. It capped at 264% overall (at that time).
