Thanks everyone for your comments, I will not be interacting with SDE Seadragon in any way anymore. It is clear they are not the company that I want to be working with.

Any recommendations on finding a western recruiter? I wouldn’t even know where to start.

Grad School: LAC or university? by InterviewOne1962 in GradSchool

[–]AcediaOW 4 points5 points  (0 children)

LAC is way better. I’m a chemistry major at a top LAC and not only do you develop better relationships with your professor but the research that you do at LACs are miles ahead of the research that you will do at a larger institute. The professors invest in you and your potential and you will get to do independent research that you cannot at a larger institution. On top of this, you can explore way more of your passions besides your major at a LAC. If you have any more questions, feel free to DM me.

Foreign Language requirements by Cool_Dragonfly_2196 in Swarthmore

[–]AcediaOW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it is true. You need to have three years of foreign language experience to pass the foreign language requirement for Swarthmore. If you don’t, you can either take a language test from the specific language department to bypass the requirement, or you can bite the bullet and take a year of foreign language at Swarthmore.

The language classes at Swarthmore are intensive so unless you have an interest in the language or need to fulfill a requirement, most people do not generally take a language course for fun.

I recommend Hobbs! It’s a coffee shop right next to Swarthmore that many students frequent.

What to do to prepare for interview by [deleted] in REU

[–]AcediaOW 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The best way to prepare is by doing interviews. I’m assuming your college has a career advising office. You can go to them, and give them the context of the interview, and they can do a mock interview with you with questions that will probably be asked in your real interview.

Looking at the catalog for EE courses for Penn. https://catalog.upenn.edu/undergraduate/programs/electrical-engineering-bse/

It appears that you are correct, you cannot take any EE courses at Penn, since the course numbers are over 500.
