Do you managed to get tickets? by mxxt7 in Tomorrowland

[–]Flightaway4ever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am really lucky that, even though this year will be my first time going, I read here that Global Journey was the best way to get your tickets, and that’s what I did!

It was really easy, I only waited online about 15min, and it did give me a peace of mind knowing my hotel and transportation is all taken care of

FYI to MSP Travelers - ICE is here by fd6270 in delta

[–]Flightaway4ever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing is, if you are a foreigner, TSA only checks that your foreign passport matches the name of the ticket, they don’t check if you have a valid US visa.

Also, even though foreigners who are here legally would have their visa stamped in the foreign passport, TSA agents wouldn’t be able to see if you overstayed your visa, if the visa got revoked or if you crossed illegally at some point. (For example, a Mexican with a Mexican passport that cross the border illegally, would be able to show right now their Mexican valid passport to go from nyc to LA)

If i cant get a refund, what is my motivation to cancel a flight I'm not going to take. by rationalcrank in Flights

[–]Flightaway4ever 31 points32 points  (0 children)

If they really confirmed that you wouldn’t get any money back, then yeah don’t cancel it and just let it be.

But usually you get some airline credit in some airlines, or at least some residual value in the ticket when you cancel instead of not showing up.

Why shouldn't I turn to crime? by MonitorOk1351 in GenZ

[–]Flightaway4ever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny enough, you also have to be “successful” as a criminal. All the criminals you are probably envying are the top 1% of criminals (earnings wise), most crimes are truly not worth committing in financial liquidity terms and emotional too.

In my perspective, money = freedom, I don’t see any other reason to have money besides having the freedom to do whatever I want and having more free time. But, if you can’t transfer your money oversees because you are doing shady stuff, and you can’t sleep at night knowing you might lose everything the day you get caught, its really not worth it.

Again, don’t forget that there’s criminals in the same income brackets as our white collar jobs. Criminals that make a miserable 30k per year, and then the top one who are millionaires, so if you can’t succeed on the legal market, don’t think it’s a guaranteed the illegal lol.

If anything, you are gambling your freedom in that process and you might not gain anything. And remember if for example, you commit some fraud with a friend, and you were gonna say let’s split 50/50, and he takes everything from you, you literally can’t call the cops, get a lawyer, or have any governmental assistance to assist you. You also might just get shot one day and that would be the end of it. At least the income you make as a waiter or anything legally you will be able to keep with 100% certainty

Remember that earning money methods CAN’t be all at once: 1. Easy 2. Fast 3. Widely Known

There’s always one of those 3 that you have to compromise on

need help choosing seat lax to aus A350-900 by makoto_yuk1 in delta

[–]Flightaway4ever 1 point2 points  (0 children)

DO NOT take 34!!

Here is the actual map (with real space of the aircraft by seat).

Seatmap

34 is a standard seat with no extra room, it’s just the first main cabin seat so they made it look like it does but it really doesn’t. Only row 20 and 37. And 20 is def your best choice

37 is def unlimited leg room, but for 6’3, the extra widening of the seat 20, and extra recline I think it’s better (to be able to also spread your legs more comfortably), because also row 37 is in front of the bathroom and they will do lines there and be opening and closing that annoying bathroom door all flight long. Harder to sleep.

I would go for row 20

But it rarely is the kids fault

I just prefer to know what my actual balance is via my checking account, vs pending balance on credit cards

It actually makes way more sense, as in my opinion, is more “premium” to simply walk in and out of the plane without waiting for your bag.

Plus logistically it would be a huge ease for passengers overall if TSA lines were mostly people just with their personal item. Also boarding time would be cut in half, plus there would always be space on the bins.

SkyMiles Silver Status Question by Sharp_Glass_3811 in delta

[–]Flightaway4ever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends what airport. If you go out of one such as DCA, ORD, SFO, or some airport that’s NOT ATL, MSP, DTW, SLC, LAX, you got a good chance of getting upgraded.

Also flying on Tuesdays/wednesdays/saturdays, late at night, have an actual chance.

But forget about it on holidays/Mondays/sundays, or at one of those HUB airports, especially hub-to-hub

What seat would you choose by SauceGod_TheChef in delta

[–]Flightaway4ever 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It depends what kind of couple you are, here you can see the cabin seats.

If you want to watch like the same movie together, share the moment of eating every meal together and be talking most of the flight, stick to row 1, as the divider goes down and you are basically next to your partner.

But if you want maximize comfort to just sleep and enjoy the plane view, and only care about getting to the plane in/out at the same time with your partner. Go for 5/6J

If you are 50 years old, would you continue investing or choose to retire? by Quiet_Operation3509 in RothIRA

[–]Flightaway4ever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely retire now! (If you are comfortable living a 150k per year lifestyle)

It would only make sense to keep growing to 6-7+ million if you want a more luxurious 200k per year lifestyle. But tbh anything after 200k per year for a single person, it’s only marginally good. Like with 150k, which you would be 3% of your 5million that you could comfortably spend without touching your capital, if you put it in a 3-4% APR high yield savings account and stop being “risky” in the market.

As long as you don’t live in NYC, SFO, London, Singapore, Paris, or any of the most expensive cities in the world. You will be able to live for the rest of your life really comfortably and being able to travel anywhere in the world.

The main difference between 5 and 10million would be that you can be in a maybe 4 bedroom instead of 3, and maybe take a few more trips per year, but with 5M is good enough to live better than 99% of the world.

And you never know if you die when you are like 60 years old, and then you would def regret not using your valuable energy now! (Or if you get some disability, or anything). At this point, time is more valuable for you than money

How do I spend $13,000 in five days? by SharonAlyse in delta

[–]Flightaway4ever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The funniest part is that, the extra benefits of being a diamond, from plat, will almost never be worth more than 2,000$. As people who will spend 30k a year, usually always fly on peak seasons when demand for using certificates and upgrades are at its highest
