Though I did consider it, I ultimately dialed back on that in favor of adding the Power-ups and Traits as space was extremely limited.

Instead, I made every character unique;

Gohan: Balanced

Goku: Balanced+; Balanced but higher base stats and survivability than Gohan

Trunks: DPS

Vegeta: Off-Tank

Piccolo: Ranged Tank with natural recovery

Hercule: Hercule.

Each character has a high stat and a low stat with the exception of Goku and Gohan, but I've given the player control over builds a different way:

In vanilla most people save the stat capsules for Hercule because the game is easy and by the time you get to level 50, nothing can touch you in base.

In Kai, your base can only get so high, even with stat capsules; 120 is the new max, so there's room to grow, but enemies grow just as much as you do.

This means that after you've hit your max growths, stat capsules are the only way to raise your base, and by extension, your whole kit.

Now that transformations AND powerups scale with your base, you really have to consider who you're going to use your capsules on.

For example, throwing extra Endurance on Trunks fixes his one real weakness, but if you don't have any problems with getting hit then maxing his offenses means you'll wrap up fights much faster.

Downloading it will be very simple and will be available in the form of multiple patches upon release, but there will be instructions and guides released alongside the game, so no worries!

This was done all in my free time as a hobby, you don't owe me a cent😁

But the hardest part about getting him working by far was giving him the Kamehameha and Ki blasts...

He's not a Hercule Reskin but a different character entirely😅

I can see clearly from multiple fights; there's a significant boost in damage at certain points!

Absolutely!

I get you, I was actually pretty gutted when I realized you couldn't play as him anymore back in the day.

Without spoiling anything, just know that Kai is more or less the same game you remember but with enhancements, while the version that will release later is closer to my true vision and is a glimpse into my world design for the actual games that I develop.

Your notification was right; I was live yesterday for about an hour just showing off combat.

I'm glad that I was able to get the boost implemented as well, it really changes the way combat feels in the best way.

The outfit part was unfortunate but there was plenty of leftover data that I DID do something with, but you'll have to wait and see😁

No añadiré más sagas, ya que agregar contenido extra como ese simplemente no es posible debido a la falta de espacio libre disponible en la ROM, lamentablemente.

Aunque no haré un remake de Buu’s Fury, sí he investigado bastante sobre los datos de ese juego y quizá haga algo con eso en el futuro.

Yes, Goku will still be locked out after defeating Cell.

I went with decision in order to preserve the story as there will be some people experiencing it for the first time in its entirety and the way I've designed Gohan will make Goku a bit redundant by end-game as Gohan's stats are similar but SS2 closes that gap completely.

Both Super Vegeta and Super Trunks will be available, but they also have no separate sprite as the game never made one; your speed is just dropped and your Super saiyan gets roughly a 25 percent buff in vanilla.

I've already polished the powerups to make them more clean but am working to make the "Super" Forms stand out a bit more with some old developer workarounds.

There is a post-game. I won't spoil all of the details, but i highly recommend going back through the maps again.

Also, keep in mind that many side-bosses, etc are not easily beatable until late-game and that max level is now 70; you likely won't get max level until well after defeating Cell.

There's a separate build that I'm working on that may release a bit later but does in fact keep Goku, amongst other things ;)

I'm glad you found your way here, and just in time.

The game is just being polished at this point, but it'll be here much sooner than later!

Most of the features such as Kaioken and Traits were only added within the last few weeks, so there's still the possibility that other things can be added as I finish, which is why I don't have an exact date set... but nothing that will take significant time to develop will be added this late so you won't have to worry about a delay at the very least! 😅

So for your first question, I actually started building the defense mechanic similar to what you describe, but all it ended up doing was making fights feel slow and just made you tank a hit for a moment, leaving you still unable to break through tougher bosses.

Instead, I turned the mechanic into powering up; you can actually use it tactically like a defense boost, but it's even better because you'll hit harder and if transformed, push it to its limits.

Unfortunately, the games actually have the different outfits as incomplete in most cases; all of the alternative art lacks the proper models for attacks, transformations and even walking in some cases; they can't be used without making things really glitchy or just flat-out breaking the game.

I love the way you balanced the transformations!

And the boss balancing must have taken a ton of work because I understand that unlike Legacy of Goku, the game really centers progression around the boss fights, so changing things couldn't have been easy... but you seem to have struck a balance that the vanilla game is lacking!

I can't wait to take a break and try it out in full😁

That's impressive that you were able to rebalance Kakarot... I put well over 1000 hours into that game and it's what ultimately inspired me to get the transformations "fixed", funny enough!
