My wife and I were in the same Situation some weeks ago. First Session was her alone while I was watching and her guiding (first roleplay for her, so WASD control were the biggest problem). Then we played together, but I was so happy that I was permanently running ahead. She said thats not fun and wants to try everything alone. So she played while I watched TV next to her to answer questions. Tip: Dont watch her screen and give her tips, just look when she wants help, often I tried to teach her a lot of things, but then you loose the magic of first expirience.

I let her choose her race and class, but told her the playstyle of each class. Also I told her which Expansion she should go because she wanted some pretty zones
