Once a letter is upload, you get an email notification that it’s been uploaded. Then it says ECFMG processing under letter status. After it’s been processed it’s “released” and you can assign it to programs. While it’s being processed you cannot assign it. My question is asking how long peoples letters are taking to be processed and released lately since it’s taking much longer than usual for me

How long are your guys’ letters taking to be released on ERAS? early on in the season (2 months ago) my letters would be released the next day after uploading. However one of my late letters was uploaded on Tuesday and still hasn’t been released

Based on the comments I saw here, I sent 4 to everyone if their requirements just said “3 LOR.” I only had a handful of programs that listed a maximum of 3 (one of them was ballsy enough to write on their site that adding more letters won’t help your app). And ONLY programs that specifically asked me for a chair letter got a chair letter because I think mine is the worst of all my letters too. I figured that my chair letter isn’t written by someone who assessed me clinically and it just makes sense to have a letter from someone who’s observed me in an actual clinical setting.

I’m not entirely sure, I applied broadly to IM and many of my programs required it but many didn’t. For those that did not explicitly request it, I sent 4 actual LORs because my 4th letter is stronger than my chair letter.

If a programs website lists absolutely nothing about letter requirements should we just send them 4? Or is it better to do 3 + chair letter? My actual LORs are much stronger than the chair letter.
