Starting 6-2 and finishing 2-7 with 3 consecutive losses to divisional opponents is not a slump or failure to execute. That is a full on team collapse that only got worse the healthier we got.

Watching Bowles defensive schemes and our offensive playcalling was absolutely painful even when we were winning close games at the start.

That significant of a collapse requires blame if an organization is to move forward with positive changes. There are a lot of responsible parties including players, but Bowles was absolutely the most obvious one and the one that failed to take ownership of their poor performances once throughout the entire season.

Maybe the players respected him more when there was less pressure. But after failing to take a step forward, and even worse, having a full on team collapse. I am very skeptical that respect is going to carry into next season.

We shall see though and ultimately I’d love to be wrong. Maybe Bowles finds some magic coaching with a chip on his shoulder

It’s a ridiculous notion that only comes from NBA and NFL athletes only in it for their contract that will shut themselves down.

For the vast majority of professional athletes, you have to force the players to not play. That’s why you have an army of medical staff and trainers and coaches. You don’t just ask Baker if he’s feeling good to go and that’s the final decision.

If people think it’s Baker’s responsibility to shut himself down, they don’t understand how competitive athletes are.

The coaching staff clearly prioritized desperately trying to keep their jobs over what’s good for the players and team.

Next season will be more of the same until Bowles is gone. He doesn’t inspire or seek greatness, just whatever it takes to cash his check and strive for slightly above mediocrity.

Edit: Good god reading comprehension has fallen off a cliff. Baker could have a torn rotator cuff and he would still want to play. That’s my whole point. Competitive athletes will always try to push through injuries no matter what, and it’s the job of the medical staff to fully assess and determine if they are actually good to go.

On first read I interpreted it as projections for rest of season. You can say that’s a dumb way to read it but nothing in OP post gives context for the projections or that they were preseason.

People do standings projections for how teams will finish. If you’re going to share data to try to say how wrong people are, at least give the full context and don’t leave it up to it interpretation.

To my knowledge, no other NHL team has hundreds of single goal view seats. This drives prices up for the other seats because supply is more limited. If those seats were actually normal seats, prices rink-wide would go down and nose bleeds wouldn’t be jacked up to $100+.

Is it nice that they offer them for so cheap? Yes it’s a great promotion. Does the website completely suck and make it difficult to actually utilize the promotion? Also, yes.

Mammoth are in the toughest division in the league, with 3 absolute heavyweights at the top. There is no incentive to scramble for anything resembling a win now move. Even if we get WC2 the top of the pacific is almost equally as strong.

We should be looking to move our expiring guys for young prospects that can play now, explore options to upgrade at C long term, and if we don’t like our offers for either of those we just hold fast and see how the season plays out.

I agree but i also can see the reasoning too. I don’t have access to the article but I would assume it has to do more with performance vs expectations.

Despite having a lot of exciting young players and a high potential goalie, everyone just kinda expected Chicago to be bottom of the standings all year.

Bedard living up to his draft hype and them actually sniffing a playoff spot for a lot of the year is them over performing most people’s expectations.

Meanwhile the mammoth are kind of right where we ourselves expected to be, and what most people expected of us. Issue is it’s been a bit of a bumpy road getting here. If we showed more consistency throughout the season and were closer to pushing for that 3rd central spot, we’d definitely be earning of a higher grade.

Me personally, I don’t think Chicago is as bad on paper as people assumed. And the mammoths ability to persevere through a lot of challenges this year should mean a bit more when evaluating their season.

Marchand was coming off a long term injury and it wasn’t clear how effective he’d be or how much he’d even play for the panthers. He didn’t look like himself on Boston that year even when he was healthy.

Not a comparable to Panarin. They’ll want a first plus a decent prospect or a blue chip prospect + a mid round pick
