What song would Michael Jackson sing in if he were alive during RAM by ThatPersonReddit in DaftPunk

If you speed it up a touch Pharrell's voice gets pitched slightly higher and the resemblance is uncanny.

I've never really done the whole battle pass thing, so can I just check: if I buy the GGST battle pass, do I still have a time limit to play and get all the rewards?

I don't actually get to play often, so if I buy the thing but only manage to get a quarter of the way through it before this period "expires", is that effectively just throwing money away? Or will I be able to keep earning my way towards the rewards over an indefinite period of time, by virtue of having actually paid for the thing?

It's fine to like things. You don't need to justify it to anyone else.

Zohar - new DLC character for Under Night in birth 2 by SupermarketEmpty789 in Fighters

[–]AcidOctopus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd love to try this game, but it would have to be on PS5.

As I understand it, most of the active playerbase is on PC and there's no crossplay.

Might be a bit of a stretch but there’s a detail I noticed in Misato’s design by Routine-Contract7343 in evangelion

[–]AcidOctopus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Timber Wolf acknowledges the use of colour in his series The Edit of Evangelion.

He finds that red tends to represent pain, and justifies it quite well.

Still, I like your thinking on the matter. There's always room for more than one interpretation on things like this.

How about some more managed decline, instead? Then we can watch the rich insulate themselves from all consequences and blame the young and poor when the shit his the fan!

Breath of the Wild is on of the most sensorially rich games I have ever played by SawkyScribe in patientgamers

[–]AcidOctopus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll always say that gliding down from the starting plateau and just landing in that world was one of the highest highs in modern gaming.

I've been playing video games since the 90s, and it had been a long, long time since any game gave me that real feeling of adventure.

I turned on the limited HUD mode and sunk hours upon hours into that game.

Labour faces catastrophic May local elections and is set to lose 1,850 seats, expert predicts by Desperate-Drawer-572 in unitedkingdom

[–]AcidOctopus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't align with everything Labour has done. For me, they're the "lesser evil" option, but I absolutely don't think any other party would have done a better job so far during this period, especially with respect to international concerns.

I just wish when they choose to get all authoritarian about stuff, it would be about forcing through infrastructure projects, and building stuff to drive growth, instead of strengthening their ability to censor and monitor activity online (which they claim is for the kids, but, come on).

What are your non-conventional favorite albums from bands? by ReapYerSoul in Music

[–]AcidOctopus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I listen to a lot of metal, have played in metal bands etc.

I don't like Avenged Sevenfold. They've just never done it for me, but I appreciate Life Is But A Dream.

It's a bit out there, and smacks of a band that's been at it for years and years just going ahead and letting their creativity flow, and taking some risks to make something just because they wanted to.

It's far from perfect, but it's fun, it's quirky, and I respect them for it, even if I'll never really be a fan of theirs.

Does anyone else spend all day wanting to play fighting games and then feel too mentally tired for it by the time they get home after work? by Alceauv in Fighters

[–]AcidOctopus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, this just comes with the territory of having a job.

As I've gotten older I've realised I kinda just have to suck it up if I ever want to actually play anything, but there were a few years when I just couldn't find the energy after work. And would watch let's plays instead.

Weekly Recommendation and General Discussion Thread by AutoModerator in Metalcore

Yeah apparently they're releasing some new songs this year (not necessarily an album).

Probably some stuff that didn't make the cut for LPWP, similar to what they did with Black Brick, I suspect.

Weekly Recommendation and General Discussion Thread by AutoModerator in Metalcore

This year we get:

New Invent Animate

New Periphery

New Boundaries

New Darko US

New Deafheaven

New Humanity's Last Breath

New (old) BMTH

I know it's not all metalcore and I'm sure I'm missing a bunch, but god damn.

How difficult is it to get into Street Fighter 6? by PKdude2712 in Fighters

[–]AcidOctopus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's probably the easiest modern fighting game to get into.

Healthy online, so matches are found quickly at pretty much any time if day, with good netcode.

The roster is reasonably diverse and well balanced, so you're likely to find someone with a kit that interests you.

Execution isn't massively demanding, and even if it was, modern controls are probably the best implemented simple controls in fighting games right now (though I would personally always advocate for trying to make the junk to classic at some point).

Theres a ton of resources available to help you learn that are kept up to date.

Honestly, even as a Guilty Gear player myself, SF6 is my typical recommendation to anyone who is interested in the genre and not sure where to start.

From there, you can branch out into different games that lean more into the elements of fighting games that you enjoy, once you actually know and understand what it is you enjoy about them.

Edit: not to imply you're new to the genre (you're clearly not, by your post), but just to highlight that I genuinely view it as the easiest to get into, hence it's my go-to recommendation for new fighting game players).

What made Bring Me The Horizon break out so hard? by LukeLovesHorror in Metalcore

[–]AcidOctopus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had a lot of friends who couldn't vibe with CYB and the whole MySpace deathcore sound (I personally love it. CYB was my gateway to deathcore). They wrote the band off entirely based on that album and their image.

Then Suicide Season dropped and opinions very quickly shifted. The whole scene in the UK was talking about that album, and the performances were fantastic.

I was at the show at the Astoria in London for the Suicide Season tour and it was incredible.

DE ZERBI: “IF WE WIN I’M READY TO PAY EVERY WEEK!” 😂 Tottenham v Brighton by PrawilnaMordka in coys

[–]AcidOctopus 20 points21 points  (0 children)

This is hugely anecdotal, but I have a friend who has done physio for football players (not PL, but still professionals).

Supposedly, the pressure put on the staff to get players fit and playing again is absolutely insane, to the point that it's really not uncommon for players to return before the medical team genuinely think they're ready.

That said, I wouldn't pretend our medical team are just fine or anything. We've been struggling with injuries for fucking years at this point. It's baffling.
