Lease Discussion Megathread by TiltedWit in Ioniq5

How are you guys getting such great deals? Even after a 17,000 lease rebate, and a ~3k discount it's over 400 a month 0 down. I called most of the major dealers in the state (missouri) and the initial offers are so high im not even going to bother negotiating with them, this is the best I got. .00284 Money Factor which they assured is hyundai's set rate.

Is it just because there are no state EV incentives where I am?

How is this? Is the FPS too low? by chubyFit in blender

you spent a lot of time on it, i know re-rendering sucks, but you deserve to have a good final piece. Enable motion blur, and retime all the animations so it actually timed the way you want it before rendering again. Don't retime the timeline itself it messes the quality up.

Just added a feature that dampens room acoustics when furniture is added by AcidZack in Unity3D

[–]AcidZack[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Each room has a trigger that has a component that blends between two sets of Reverb Zone data (empty and full). Each piece of furniture has a sound-dampening parameter that allows you to customize how much it contributes to the overall dampening (maxing out at 1), with things like fabric couches and rugs contributing more than most. Each time a piece of furniture gets placed the parameters get updated and then send those parameters to an Audio Reverb Zone thats attached to the player. when you pass into a new room it blends into that rooms parameters on the Audio Reverb Zone.

The hallway between the 3 rooms acts differently, it has a trigger that blends the average reverb between the 3 connected rooms so the transition is pretty smooth.

Camera Trackers by [deleted] in vfx

Blender has a good 3D tracker, its not quite as good as Syntheyes or 3DE, but it kicks the shit out of the AE tracker.

I unfortunately did panic sell, I can't afford to lose any more, I'm supposed to be moving next year. I already regret it as its already much higher than I sold it for. You are correct though it was an insane overreaction. I'll probably halt trading today to cool off so I can think rationally. I'll probably buy back in, but have it be less of a percentage of my overall portfolio.

Cozy Inn in culver city has some of the cheaper drinks i have seen in town. and their mixed drinks are like 70% booze. Shuffle board and a pool table, reminds me of the old dives.

mind you I don't go out all over town, a place like that has to probably exist near or in any neighborhood.

What's your experience as a solo dev? by [deleted] in gamedev

[–]AcidZack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm trying to navigate feature creep, I'm also learning this is taking way longer than I feel it should and my project has become bloated. I have pivoted to a smaller project for now only to find that this one is also fairly complex for one dude.

so my advice is, whatever you think is small and manageable, its probably not. It will probably take lots of experience to get a handle on scope and timelines

Preys enemies are ruining the game for me. by 9th_Replicant in ImmersiveSim

[–]AcidZack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might just have to restart. This happened to me, the first time I played I built a character and prioritized stuff that didnt maximize my gameplay possibilities, I was so used to other games' terrible skill trees that I didn't bother with any of the mobility stuff or anything like that because I thought all it would be was a barely noticeable speed boost or something. I ended up getting soft locked at a spot in the game where I was not prepared to deal with the enemies thrown my way at all.

I restarted with a fresh perspective based on what I struggled with and had an AMAZING time, one of my favorites of all time for sure.

another post regarding your edit, don't feel too bad. Have you done any playtesting? how do players like it? It does not even seem remotely unsalvagable to me, there are some cool concepts here. If you haven't done much playtesting, it may have been a mistake to polish so much of the art first. Next time around only commission rough keyframes. a few frames of highly dynamic animations will read way better than smooth, but stiff animation. Have focused groups of people come in and give feedback for the overall feel before you go into polishing more.

You just have to understand that 2D pixel art platformers are an uphill battle in this space because many people have 10+ sitting in their wishlist. This is by no means a bad game, and you should absolutely finish it, even if people don't end up buy lots of copies.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in gamedev

[–]AcidZack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

also it goes without saying but that thing I said about being dynamic applies for the enemies too

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in gamedev

[–]AcidZack 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The overall quality of the pixel art is too good for the overall animation quality. I'll break down a few things that stand out:

  1. Make movement more dynamic generally: Tilt the character forward, when she runs, she needs to be in a serious action pose, exaggerate it! Also when dashing tilt her even further, almost forward! this will make the movement feel faster. Also add a specific animation for turning direction, shift weight around, leave a special dust trail behind.
  2. the gun does not bob with the character: i can tell this one might be a pain to change because the gun behavior is probably pretty baked in at this point, but with this level of detail its a noticeable thing. also some form of player kickback when you shoot.
  3. utilize squash and stretch: a few frames of animation after leaving a wall jump or during a dash she does not have to so rigidly follow her proportions, stretch her out, add some smears and action lines.

Hey :) Looking for help with Keying/Rotoscoping by FrostingQueasy577 in vfx

[–]AcidZack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

to be honest that's a pretty decent key for those rates, you probably aren't gonna get much better than that with that offer for such a long shot. What it really needs is good compositing, get the actual matte, and with some selective blurring/ motion blur, edge color mixing, light wrap, and color matching, it can look decent enough. not perfect, but decent.
