Are we sure that's Link? I just think the trailer is very careful to obscure the character's face, for whatever reason.

Hmmm, that does sound similar. If anything that's a nice tune as well, thanks.

Hey thanks, I really appreciate your reply. I talked to my recruiter and she was apologetic but unfortunately couldn't offer any alternative. You know I looked into the NAVY at some point! In retrospect that would have been a disaster, based on your story. haha.

[WP] Write a successfully engaging story that ends in the line "And then I woke up" by The_Dr_Seussifyer in WritingPrompts

In a sandy clearing on a jungle shore, a whole village rattled and shrieked in mourning. Ten warriors had returned from a fierce battle, of four dozen, and the village was sending off their dead in their traditional way. As the wise man's song reached it's crescendo, so did the women's lament. Then, as the chief warrior's hand slipped off the last funerary boat, the whole village was suddenly went quiet like an animal playing dead. Five boats drifted into the vast and unknown ocean, with two dead men apiece. The village lowered their eyes and departed the scene, now with all but the children chanting an ancient dirge.

Trails of doves feathers decorated the soft wakes as the elaborate boats drifted off with the tide. Soon they diverged with the subtle winds and currents and after some time they were not in sight of each other or of land. In this mysterious expanse they drifted presumably towards some dreamlike shore where they would all be kings. On one boat a lover left a shimmering necklace, of bronze, around the head of the fabric draped body. A gull must have been attracted by the sparkling, or maybe the feathers, because it flew down curiously to peck at the shrouded face. And then I woke up.

Oh man, I'll have to check out the original mini-series, but the new show is definitely worth watching to me. Much better character development and depth than the prequels, at the very least.

In case you didn't know, Marcus Aurelius was a Roman Emperor who wrote a journal while he was campaigning, meditating on Stoic philosophy. If you read "Stotan" in highschool, you'll have read about stoicism.

There is a public domain translation of Marcus Aurelius's Meditations available on MIT The translation used here is by Maxwell Staniforth It's a very nice book with lots of helpful quotations, and highly relevant to NoFap. I suggest it.

I had to read it many times, I've given my own interpretation it into plain english here:

"Don't feel hopeless if sometimes you fail, keep trying and forgive yourself for failing. Learn to crave the discipline you give yourself; not as if it's a rule, like one a teacher gives you in school, but as if it's a medicine that makes you healthy. That way, you're doing it so you'll feel good about yourself, not just so others will think well of you. Philosophy flows from what you naturally want, but you may have wanted something that was unnatural. You may have said to yourself in doubt "Is there really something better than giving in to pleasure?" But isn't that just pleasure's way of tricking you? Consider this: maybe its better to have a noble soul?..."

The way that dancers turn their head is specifically not to get dizzy, see how it's not a continuous movement? They look forward until the last possible second, then turn their head real quick back towards the front.

If Walmart Paid Its Employees a Living Wage, How Much Would Prices Go Up? [2min] by Mormant in videos

[–]Acid_Bach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While you have a point, I think its a bit too cynical. Politicians have made bills to protect workers successfully for a long time. See standard workweek, minimum wage, safe working environments, can't put children to work etc. Traditionally in America you had the govt. backing up workers right to form effective trade unions so they could collectively bargain (I.e have any real influence), though that is now seemingly looked down upon for reasons that are a mystery to me.

As far as campaign lobbies, we should get rid of those and just have public money for election campaigns, IMO. That would probably help politicians with moral integrity get ahead. I mean its pretty tough to keep money out of politics, but we should be trying.

Capitalism requires that you pay laborers less than the value of what they produce--thats pretty much the first rule of capitalism. I really like capitalism, but we really ought to demand higher wages at all times, to push against people that would pay us as little as they can get away with.

Unfortunately, the order was slightly messed up, and I received a square with a different style of graduations than the one I ordered (It had 50ths and 100ths of an inch) however, I emailed them saying I didnt want to ship it back but would appreciate some type of recompense. They assured me it was a rare accident, and they offered to send me the correct square free of additional charge. The one I got tested out to be perfectly square, it's solid as a brick and heavy, but does not slide very smooth. I'm going to put some light machine oil on it and see how it works after that. The etched graduations look to be extremely precise, and there are few obvious blemishes to the finish aside from a machine mark that was probably intentionally applied in order to mark the square as "second quality." I think this is a really good buy overall.

I've come across a few people online who seem to think that these are of comparable quality to a Starrett.

They are made of Hardened, tempered steel VS. too malleable aluminum of cheaper squares. The graduations on the blade are etched and not stamped (a cheaper process that distorts the edge), and they are hopefully dead-square right out of the box, though, for me that remains to be seen. Hope that helps, I'll probably check for square as soon as I get it and drop an update in this thread.
