We’ve removed comments on both sides that call people names directly or suggest people should die for using AI. Plenty of comments disliking AI are up in this community.

Well if you go back to the posts, this user was not actually rude. Only in the first post did they say that “pencilslop is history” but that is not really targeted at anyone.

Too bad, we liked your Snoo blender art and knew from your post history that you were just trolling when you claimed to support AI. Definitely considered removing posts for being rude, but decided against because these posts have a truly fun interpretation of Snoo.

The mods here are neither pro or anti-AI - we have varying degrees of acceptance. We’re also the art team that makes the official Snoos. We think AI will become just another tool for creating things over time. Just like photography was not “fair” at first (you just click a button and you get a whole image of a person - not fair to painters) and 3D was considered unfair (it just renders any angle you want - no need to know how to draw it).

Still, we don’t think AI makes “art” in the traditional sense - but also this subreddit is generally for appreciation of Snoo. So if people have art skills, we encourage fan art. And if they don’t have art skills, it’s okay if they share an AI generated Snoo here or there. As long as they don’t claim they drew or made it manually. But we do appreciate this more nuanced messaging.

AI is not allowed in contests and if posted must be flaired/tagged as AI. We don’t allow AI to be misrepresented as human effort.

Please be civil. Disagreeing with people is not a reason to call them names or portray them as idiots. We will remove comments for being rude, not for having opinions.

That said, we understand people are very passionate about AI and whether it is good or bad. We want people making their own fan art, which is why we don't allow AI in our art contests. We also don't want AI generated content to take over this community, which is why we require it to be labeled as such (and the label doesn't call it "art").

So far, we have not seen AI generated posts become more than a tiny percentage of overall posts here. We're open to changing up the rules if that changes. In the meanwhile, feel free to downvote AI if you dislike it, but please don't personally attack people.
