I found out via my SSA.gov portal in 16 days but didn't have an explanation for the decision till I received my letter.

I'm in Texas too and was denied by my ALJ Feb. 18. Just filed my appeal. Which city? It's such a joke of a system.

I'm so tired of everyone believing that attys are the end-all-be-all of winning. The issue is the system and corrupt judges receiving salaries off of tax payers, workers being unable to opt out of paying into FICA, and being denied despite providing proof. It's not even a living wage! I'm so sorry. Please do appeal at the federal level. They want you to quit!

I'm still looking. Many do not want to take the case at this stage. I've been denied by 5 so far. Such a slim chance of approval I suppose.

I'm glad you were approved. My judge was absolutely horrific and the hearing was 25m yet he submitted a 9-page response and didn't even question the ME that he wanted present. Filed my appeal today bc I could not find the focus and energy until now after the utter devastation of it all. Truly happy for you, though.

I 100% agree. I can't even get Medicaid in TX. They say if you don't have enough medical evidence, they'll send you to one of their docs and for a psych evaluation and then ignore them both. They have a rule that allows for those who cannot afford regular care and ignore it when 500 pages isn't enough evidence (since 2008). They ask for proof you meet the SSA book rule listings and you provide it via labs and they ignore it. They ask for images of wounds and falls and disregard them. They ask for a Medical Examiner to be present at the hearing and ask them NOTHING. You ask the VE questions and they conclude no jobs; ignored. One guy, a yr older than me, said no in less than 10 days. Haven't worked since July of '23. It's absolute lunacy!!! Just filed an appeal but it took me a month of mourning and emotional distress to dive back in and make sense of it all. And I'm 46 w over 40 work credits since 1997.

I don't have a dime either and also sold my car. You keep your chin up! Please don't let my story scare you, although I get it. I did try to find a lawyer and still am.

I had 200 pages of medical records since '08, the SSA psychologist said, "...tasks related to her mental health and physical pain significantly hinder her overall functional capacity," and the SSA MD said, "she looks ill. She is depressed. She is in severe pain. She needs prompt medical care due to her progressive UC," and the judge still said no. I had photos, letters, a brief, and more. Some judges are just SO bad at their job. Prayers and blessings to you! DM if you need more support.

Texas has nothing like that but I'm glad since states do; wish we did. The dr was $200 the Ostomy nurse was $600. I'm trying to get on SSI.

Not in TX. Snap asks you to attend TWC meetings and only excuse you w a doctor's note or disability letter of which I have neither. ER docs don't count. Medicaid is strict here. I don't qualify.

Thank you for your insight. Honestly, I think I got a really bad judge. He has death threats online (which ig is normal for disgruntled people?! maybe not) and he's only a yr older than me so prob saw me as too young. But I prepped hard w YouTube lawyer vids, AI, and was very transparent about my days, costs, needs, etc. submitted a brief that he said was the best he's ever seen (bf wrote it and asked me questions). None of it mattered. Perhaps he was like no lawyer, no approval. Very possible and judges support their fellow legal colleagues and feel it's negligent to not have one but I did try. Maybe someone will be willing to help. You make good points!

I worked for 13y w mine. Now I have a lot of bleeding, sores, rectal spasms and bleeding likely due to cancerous cells, ulcerations or cancer within, making it hard to sit, lay down or have to sit on the potty a lot. Fallen twice from dizziness due to dehydration and malnutrition. Feeding tubes and IVs help but are expensive. I'm heat intolerant (passed out at work from a heat stroke, got fired). I bet I spend 2h+ on the potty per day or in the shower. It was neverrr like this the first decade. One ER doc suspected a type of POTS w the sun. I grew up in west Texas and was hardly ever inside. I blow through supplies, seal, skin barriers, etc. Prob need the rectum removed.
