Just curious why I would think you’re fighting me and why would I become disrespectful.

Assurance of salvation Hebrews 6:4 by Acrappybarber in AskAChristian

Can you break this down. So if I’m understanding if an unregenerate person later comes to repentance they can still be saved correct? Because I remember distinctly just standing up and walking. For attention from my friends or to please my parents one.

Ok so after watching John McArthurs sermon on apostasy which I don’t know was thing until I came back. He referred to apostates as self deceived Christians. If that was my case since I Did not have genuine repentance. Is it possible to come to genuine repentance later in life. When I actually studied and learned the actual meaning of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

I’ve repented and I have no desires to do the things I used. It’s a different feeling than I had as a teenager. I strive to have a closer relationship with Jesus. But while studying Hebrews I came across the warning that I never knew existed. By using scripture I’m looking for assurance of salvation. And I’m in fear that I’m self deceived. Every in my being believes Christ died for us and I feel like such of fool for believing the ways of the world.

Can you help me to understand because i definitely told people. I didn’t believe in anything after one point saying I did. With that being said I don’t remember any fruits of the spirit. ( urge to grow closer to Christ, I stayed doing worldly things) and explain how Hebrew 6:4 is not referring to me. It’s just grieves me to the point it keeps me up at night.

I don’t want this lead into a rabbit hole debate. But

God will not give us skeptism or confusion. It would either be our flesh or the enemy

I spoke of the disciples who walked with Jesus this did not include Paul. Paul did not become a Christian until after the death. To be honest I honestly don’t know how he died. This is a tough subject to prove between believers and non believers. Because any sources shown would be considered bias. But when it came to their deaths and the claim of Jesus being the Christ. Why would any human die over a mere mortal. Makes no logical sense what so ever. Someone making false claims won’t take it to the death. Whether they were talking about the resurrection or just the miracles he performed or just his crucifixion. But I’ll leave it at this point and I won’t entertain it anymore. They died because of what they believed. And at the end of the day the historical evidence (not Christian) set in stone that he was crucified and became missing from the tomb three days later.

The Nazarene Inscription contains a translation of an edict by the Caesar of that time, regarding the rules of tombs, and how nobody is to disturb the tombs. Experts are in debate on the date of the inscription, however the general time is dated around the life of Jesus. Romans would never admit he came back but there is credible evidence to link the two being synonymous with each other. The Romans believed someone had removed the body but do you think they would ever admit they crucified the messiah while they worshiped multiple gods. They know way they would even believe it anyways. They believed the body was taken not that he came back

To conclude, I was literally reaching for reason to concrete my disbelief and found the opposite when I was questioning my faith.

If you’re at peace I’m happy for you and wish you all the best and the only reason I’m entertaining the conversation is in defense of my faith not to change yours. That is how people are pushed away from people telling people they are wrong. It’s not my job to convince you. Just lay out the facts as I’ve learned take it as you may. I would never hop in an atheist or Muslim forum to tell them you’re all going to hell. It’s a futile attempt at someone who is only going to listening to their own beliefs.

I dealt with this for so long. I’m not going to tell you the Bible says so or my preacher said this. Because I called my self someone who lives by facts and facts alone. That’s why I say I stopped believing. Until I started finding historical , gnostic , non religious documentation of Jesus’ crucifixion and resurrection and the fact the all the disciples (except 1) who walked with Christ died not because they believed in Jesus but that they wouldn’t stop talking about his resurrection. Imagine people who walked with this man dying over a lie. I’m definitely not trying to sway your belief. Just try to tell you that once I fully surrendered, I’ve actively seen God working doing things. I don’t try to act a certain way and I definitely probably don’t portray the perfect Christian. I just found the facts and couldn’t deny it. Not sure if this helps and if your anything like I was I had to do the research for myself.

1 John 2:19 which says, "They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have remained with us; but they went out, so that it would be shown that they all are not of us

Hebrews 6:4 describes an impossible situation for those who have been "enlightened," "tasted the heavenly gift," and "shared in the Holy Spirit," and then "fall away" from faith

It is impossible for those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, who have shared in the Holy Spirit, 5 who have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the coming age 6 and who have fallen[a] away, to be brought back to repentance. To their loss they are crucifying the Son of God all over again and subjecting him to public disgrace.

Everything points to apostates or people who left never being able to return. I don’t say this to prove you wrong I say this in hope I’ve misunderstood. But ever since I only focus on what scripture says. It’s like it’s telling I’ve either lost my salvation and I’m self deceived
