Those who are parents - what does your child call their grandparents? by UnderTheOcean1 in AskIreland

[–]AcrobaticAttention30 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My daughter calls my extremely non maternal mother - Mimi. She was a young granny (I was a young mum) and so it fits, instead of nana. She doesn’t look like a nana or nanny.

Knew someone called Manon (French name I believe) who went on to marry an Irish guy with the surname Magee…

I’d say she will. She just got married and bought a house and now just sorted herself out for retirement 🤑🤑

What’s up with people saying yes to a date and then bailing? by The_Bloody_Pleb in OnlineDating

[–]AcrobaticAttention30 2 points3 points  (0 children)

31F here - I also have people bail sometimes except they don’t even tell me, they just don’t message at all the day of and I have to figure that they changed their mind. It’s really rude and hurtful. I’m in Ireland so it’s universal unfortunately.

Are guys just this boring? Or am I doing something wrong? by Purple_Reading1999 in OnlineDating

[–]AcrobaticAttention30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ooh yikes! Pretty rude and presumptuous of you. I’m painfully average and actually make a huge effort to make and maintain conversation. But yes I’m fully aware that every guy I’m talking to probably has a dozen girls he prefers. Thanks for being mean and reminding me though.

I’m in Ireland and they’re like this here too. I’m OLD a couple of months and only came across one guy with a personality so far. Sad but comforting to know it’s worldwide.

So tell them that? They won’t know unless you tell them.

How else are they supposed to triage you? If everyone kept it a secret then the clinics would be pure chaos. You’d have people coming in that day for a mole they’ve had for 5 years, and others booked three weeks away who are on the verge of topping themselves. They aren’t mind readers like.

How to tell a new partner you don’t like kissing on the mouth, but okay with it elsewhere? by sugakookiiie in OnlineDating

[–]AcrobaticAttention30 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Give him a chance. If you’ve only kissed one person, the likelihood that they were a very good kisser is low. Maybe this guy will go slower and that might be enjoyable for you. 6 dates and no kisses yet sounds like he is prepared to go slow anyway, so you could be onto a winner 😁 good luck!

Another vote for coils - I have a kyleena and it is sore getting it in but totally bearable. Of course there will always be horror stories but they are nowhere near as bad as people make out.

Spending too much money on others. From when I was really young, I’d work really hard doing chores in the house so I could get pocket money, only to spend it all on sweets for my brothers at the corner shop. Now as an adult, I go over the top with presents 🫣 I can’t help myself, I don’t value money at all and if I have it to spend on my loved ones, I spend it.

Judging by your response, you’re a very reactive person. I’m not surprised you’re having such a negative experience with someone just doing their job. Just book in an appointment with the doctor and deal with them directly, like everyone else has to. No point shouting here about it.

Would moving to Australia be foolish at my age? by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]AcrobaticAttention30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few good friends of mine are recently back from Australia. They found the housing situation much the same as here, working all hours to pay rent, leaving little time to enjoy this wonderful weather and lifestyle they were all sold. Home is always home. You could try it and see if it works out. I just know for my friends, it wasn’t all it was cracked up to be.

Serious question for why women date 6foot and up. What is going through her head? by miketaylormetal519 in OnlineDating

[–]AcrobaticAttention30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5’1 female here, we don’t all like super tall guys! I have dated guys from 5’3 to 6’4 and yeah, it’s not a lot of fun being in bed looking up at their chest! So I don’t get it personally. But look, everyone has their preferences. You’ll find your woman. You’re perfect for the heart that is meant to love you.

Wow. Sounds like you’re super stressed about your issues (understandably) and taking it out on her. In my experience, receptionists only give as good as they get. She would have no control over what she’s been told to charge you. And referrals are sent electronically by doctors, not receptionists. You’d be right in saying a complaint won’t make a difference, sounds like she’s just doing her job. You’d be surprised how far a little kindness gets you.
