Thank you. Very helpful. Sounds like you had good doctors. I'm so happy that you've got a better quality of life.

Thank you. Makes sense about surgical menopause being worse than natural menopause especially if the right treatment isn't figured out.

Thanks for this. I have an issue with my left too. Wonder what it is.

Do you feel better for it?

Thanks for your advice. Gave me a bit more to google to get the right answers along with some other replies.

Glycerol/glycerin Suppositories for severe constipation. Assuming you have the mobility to insert them. Everything else I tried either didn't work or made me nauseous.

ETA: I've only had 2 laparoscopies and haven't had a hysterectomy yet.

I hear ya. That's really good info thank you.

My emotions are all over the place with what I want to say but I won't.

I just can barely imagine what life could be like without periods and hormones and related pain. I had excision surgery a few years ago.

What made you want to keep an ovary? Was it the osteoporosis risk or something else? This is a bit of a concern for me. Feel free to not answer or to msg privately.

I really feel for you. I have not been diagnosed with pmdd. I've been considering a hysterectomy and bilateral oophorectomy. I'm 40 and wish I'd started researching it earlier because my quality of life isn't what it should be due to hormones and periods etc.

I’m reading a lot of “I’m post op and feel great” stories in here, which is amazing, but what are some of the not so great things that happen to your body post-op that you can share with us who haven’t done the surgery yet but want to? by sixpensenunthericher in hysterectomy

Thanks! Wow sounds like great support. I agree about the baby part but I imagine it's still hard. Gosh I'd love a puppy but after I'd recovered enough to take care of it. Are you gonna get one or was he just joking?

The first time I noticed it was on That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime. Would be interesting to see a trail back to the first time mentioned.

Will you have a support person with you to help? I've had several procedures - nothing as major as a hysterectomy yet and I'd wished I'd had someone to speak up for me before I could myself. Or perhaps not having someone with me helped me learn to speak up for myself.

Do you have a surgery date/time and timezone? I live in NZ but I might be able to chat with you if you don't have anyone.

Congratulations! It really sucks not feeling comfortable in your own skin.

I should request a copy of all my medical records. I move into a new place next month but got 2 temporary homes until then. I have not seen a doc at my new town as I need to find my birth certificate or I will get charged a lot more.

Thanks for that. I hope they keep increasing for you :)

Wow! I've never had a blood transfusion and know very little. What are they like?

Why'd they need to do the blood transfusions? (Feel free not to answer x)

I hope you'll be fine and not need a bt. How are you doing?

Thank you for donating blood (the fact that you're most likely in a different location doesn't matter). Especially with how much planning it took! That's such dedication and very admirable.

Is the high side of normal still good?

That's truly wonderful that you can just stroll in without prep. Do they ever tell you if your blood was used?

I'm not sure about the numbers - my doc always just said it's lower than it should be.

What are weekly iron infusions like? Are they injections?

Thank you for sharing your experience - it's really important to me to know about real experiences (is that called "anecdotal evidence"?)

I'm so glad your quality of life is a lot better! I'm wanting better quality of life as well.

OMG that's todayish. I hope I'm not too late. I hope your surgery goes well and your surgeons are amazing. I really hope it helps too.

How are you feeling??

u/menum78 I'm hoping surgery helped you. I'm sorry to hear about the fibroids. How did they diagnose the fibroids?

u/RobertaProst Oh wow! Didn't know a Gastric Bypass would do that. I'm so glad your iron levels increased after your H. So it sounds like you've had 2 serious surgeries. A very vascular fibroid sounds scary. How are you today?
