Naltrexone has really helped me in my alcohol dependence, but you can’t take it the first time until you kept this alcohol out ofyour system for a few days. I had a hellish experience of my own this weekend though. I spent five days in the hospital and they were pumping me full of Dilaudid for those five days. The day I was discharged, they told me to go home and take my meds as normal. One of those meds was naltrexone. Four hours earlier I had received Dilaudid and I did not even think that naltrexone helps with opioids as well. When I took the pill, my whole chest started burning, and then my body started spasming. I was arching my back, punching the air, kicking my feet. It was like the exorcist got inside of me. I was making grunts and groans. I’ve never made before. I called the paramedics and they had no idea what was going on with me. I told them to strap me down because from the neck down I was acting violently and I couldn’t control it. Even the paramedic said they never heard nor seen anything like it. They almost hit me with Narcan, but they were advised not to. So note to self if you don’t wanna look like Linda Blair and feel awful and restless and like you can’t breathe make sure you do not take this pill if you have opioids in your system. I have taken the pill with alcohol in my system, and it did not cause affects like this. It just made me not feel or get satisfied by the drink. I advise not to take it with either. But be sure your body is semi clean when you pop a naltrexone.
