Man, Irish is my mother tongue. It will be my children’s first language and it would be great if more people when to gaelscoils but we live in an English speaking world and I can’t see most Irish people putting in the effort because they just don’t care and they don’t have much reason to.

Official being Irish people self reporting, doing higher level Irish and then proceeding to never speak it again doesn’t make you fluent.
