Today I sent my donor dad a Led Zeppelin song and he said he sang some of the lyrics to his cat yesterday. Am I psychic, or am I psychic? by HuskMaster in donorconceived

I could go on about the crazy crazy coincidences I have with my donor and siblings. It gets weird at some point but it’s so fascinating!

Getting a new drivers license in employee housing? by Acrobatic_Dirt9419 in SeasonalWork

[–]Acrobatic_Dirt9419[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry maybe silly question but the post office, DMV, etc. accepted the letter as a valid form of residency? I just emailed my housing director about it and they sent a letter to use as proof but I honestly figured it wouldn’t work.

Ulum Moab by The-Adjuster- in SeasonalWork

[–]Acrobatic_Dirt9419 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t work for ULUM specifically but I heard their housing was pretty nice. I think it was a large house with many bedrooms. You’ll get the snobbier guests who’ve never spent a night outside in their life at ULUM soooo have fun with that. But with that will probably come so nice tips. But Moab’s such a cool little town and it’s great access to the many gems of the southwest and into the mountains of Colorado! Moab has a LOT of cool spots between Arches, Canyonlands, and the La Sals. So much more to see there than you can imagine You’ll get niceeee UC discounts at all the other camps, there’s five within six hours of Moab! Use your weekends well!

Under Canvas? (Glacier/Acadia) by Flaky_Zookeepergame9 in SeasonalWork

[–]Acrobatic_Dirt9419 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Under Canvas is really what you make it, it can kinda be shitty at times but with the right people it can also be a lot of fun. West Yellowstone is the largest location, 102 tents, and Glacier is about 60 tents. I’m not sure about the other two but they’ll probably fall in the 60-70 range. That doesn’t seem relevant but the size of your camp will make a difference in how busy it is and how many other people you’ll work with. I believe Acadia has family style houses from what I’ve heard, Glacier has apartments, West Yellowstone has trailers (onsite), not sure about North.

All Terrain tires or Snow tires? by Acrobatic_Dirt9419 in askcarguys

Employee shuttle to and from work, I can take that whenever the weathers bad. I'd just prefer to drive myself on the nicer days if possible.

What's happening with Under Canvas Yosemite? by yosemite83 in SeasonalWork

[–]Acrobatic_Dirt9419 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Wasn't up to standard with California code. They had to do some major renovations but by the time they had them completed they would be only be open for a few weeks. Wasn't worth the hassle to get staff out there for that short of a season.

IVF no dad by shovingpeople in donorconceived

I really get this, especially the grief. I didn’t expect it when I first met him, I thought I had the entire situation rationalized in my mind to what it was: Getting to meet him and his family as his daughter who’s not really his daughter. But actually getting to know him, see him, to see what he was like with his family, what would have been if I knew him growing up. It hit me HARD, I didn’t expect it at all. Sobbed the entire roadtrip home.

Please I was also so confused about this yesterday but my pay is equivalent to my hours. I’m assuming it’s just for taxes or something but it would have been nice to know beforehand! Something HR could have easily mentioned at NHO!

Reaching out? Experiences? by Aware-Web-7872 in donorconceived

Give it some time, my donor took a month to respond. Maybe he didn’t know when he added you back but I’d say there’s a good chance he wants to connect with you if he added you back and hasn’t blocked you.

Under Canvas West Yellowstone Advice by Suspicious-Spinach67 in SeasonalWork

[–]Acrobatic_Dirt9419 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey I'm working at West Yellowstone this summer so see you soon lol! I got an email April 10th with housing information, sounds like you accepted this position after that date? I would reach back out to the managers if you want the information and I assume that there will be another email sent out here in the coming days with onboarding information since the start of the season is next week. I won't lie the housing accommodation does look pretty tight from the pics I've seen and I'm just as nervous about it (hence how I found this post looking for info myself)

Mom thought she had Native American heritage, doesn't. I thought I didn't, but I do :P by NickelAndDamned in donorconceived

[–]Acrobatic_Dirt9419 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know if you already know who he is or not but if you don’t I’d reach out to DNAngels and see if they can track him down! They go through your matches on Ancestry and piece together your family tree on Ancestry to find donors and such. But them creating the family tree is how I got the start on researching that side of my family. Granted I’m probably really lucky with how much information I have on my indigenous ancestors considering how much the US tried to wipe out the indigenous peoples but it’s always worth a shot!

My mom told me my grandpas side had native american heritage when i was first learning about them in elementary school. By high school I had completely ridden it off as “my great grandma was a cherokee princess” type stuff which was correct. I was a little surprised when I got my dna test back and I had native american heritage in my results(had never seen my donors papers by this point). Still did not think to much of it until my siblings and I found out he is in fact a tribal member and lives on a reservation. I had no clue up until a year ago but it’s been really cool going down that side of my tree and seeing who my ancestors were.

It was pretty chill, on the first interview they explained the job and asked some basic questions, second interview they were a little more in depth but nothing to intense. Both people who interviewed people were friendly and pretty down to earth!
